The Port Orange Police Department got a call this afternoon from the office of U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney, R-Oviedo, in Port Orange City Hall, saying secretarial staff had opened an envelope that contained what appeared to be a white powder substance. Capt. Wayne M. Miller said the city's fire department and Haz-Mat team responded and the building was evacuated. No word on any injuries -- or who might have sent the envelope.

A Chilling Word of Warning from a U.S. Congressman By Gerald Shaw FrontPageMagazine.com | Friday, March 21, 2008 Millions of Americans sit comfortably in front of TV screens each day, engrossed in rousing entertainment, sports madness or reality shows -- without the slightest idea they are perilously unprotected from another horrifying terrorist attack. They can thank the Democratic House of Representatives for failing to pass a sufficient update to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA). “Every day that goes by is one less day of protection,” said U.S. Representative Tom Feeney (R-FL). “The terrorists know this. They watch...

Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Fla.) is hosting a fundraiser Wednesday at the Capitol Hill Club to celebrate the last broadcast of veteran "CBS Evening News" anchor Dan Rather, who has long vexed conservatives with what they see as a liberal bias. The "C'est La Vie Comrade Rather" event - for the benefit of Tom Feeney for Congress - will be held from 5-7 p.m., during which attendees will watch Rather's final newscast at 6:30. Feeney told The Hill that the open bar will remain open only if guests drink from their left hands. The event appears to be more about a...

Questions About Membership in the Church To the man who reads twentieth-century theological literature at all perceptively, it becomes more and more apparent that the central area of interest to the writers of our time is and has been the science of ecclesiology. And, within the area of the tractatus de ecclesia, there is one essential point which is and has been at issue. It is the teaching that the Roman Catholic Church, the religious organization over which the Bishop of Rome presides, is actually the one and only supernatural kingdom of God on earth, the one and only institution...

Republican Congressman Tom Feeney of Oviedo asked a computer programmer in September 2000, prior to that year's contested presidential vote in Florida, to write software that could alter vote totals on touch-screen voting machines, the programmer said. Former computer programmer Clint Curtis made the claim Monday in sworn testimony to Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee investigating allegations of voter fraud in the 2004 presidential election involving touch-screen voting in Ohio. In his testimony, Curtis said that Feeney, then a member of the Florida House of Representative, met with Curtis and other employees of Yang Enterprises, an Oviedo software company,...

George W. Bush Angers Conservatives Howard Dean isn't the only presidential candidate suffering a self-inflicted meltdown. There's a certain Republican with the same problem, and we don't mean Wesley Clark the former Reaganite. President Bush has so angered his conservative base by spending more than any Democrat in history and pandering to illegal aliens that Republican congressmen, stunned by constituents' complaints, met privately with Karl Rove to unload, the Washington Times revealed Friday. "I would say 97 out of 100 of our members who asked questions laid into him pretty good about spending and the lack of discipline on the...

Back Karl Keating and the Gospel of Sola Ecclesia Liberali Someone forwarded me a copy of “Karl Keating’s E-Letter” of January 13, 2004, entitled “Fr. Feeney and the Jews.” (Keating is the founder of "Catholic Answers," an apologetics organization Keating has made the sounding board for his pronouncements against "extreme traditionalists.") An “e-letter,” for those who may not know, is a kind of electronic epistle written by people who evidently consider their thoughts of the day so important as to warrant immediate promulgation over the Internet to a list of people who actually sign up to receive this sort of...

Republican Tom Feeney holds a comfortable lead over Democrat Harry Jacobs in their expensive, and increasingly nasty, race for Congress, a new Orlando Sentinel/WESH NewsCenter 2 opinion poll shows. With less than a month until Orange, Seminole, Brevard and Volusia county voters decide who will represent the new 24th District, Feeney, the Republican, holds a 19 percentage point lead over Jacobs, the Democrat.

Power donors support Feeney with dollars By John Kennedy Tallahassee Bureau Chief April 16, 2002 TALLAHASSEE -- House Speaker Tom Feeney raised $100,000 for his congressional campaign, mostly from powerful industries with issues before the Legislature, just days before suspending fund-raising for the two-month session. Nursing-home operators, the insurance industry and associated law firms and lobbyists accounted for more than $100,000 of the total the Oviedo Republican raised this year for his exploratory campaign committee, according to new reports filed with the Federal Elections Commission. Feeney is looking to run in a freshly drawn congressional district centered around Oviedo. "A...
