Do you think that McClintock or Arnold should drop out in order to unify Republicans behind one republican candidate in order to increase odds of winning recall election?

We are getting reports in here that there has been an explosion in the Kokomo area. Anyone in this area can confirm? Can't find anything on the news about it.

I happened to be channel surfing during Britany's amazing display of lip-syncing before the game last night and I came across Jeneane on a new channel. She looked absolutely horrible, like she aged about 15 years in the last few months. Scraggly hair with a horrendous bleach job, bags under her eyes, and her skin looked all blotchy. I used to think she was pretty cute but what I saw last night was coyote ugly.

Rules: A question is asked concerning just about anything. Question: Will the Euro become the Universal Currency some day or will it fade back out into nothing?

Is the water looking to choppy to surf? Anyone surfing today?

Last time I frequented this place (sometime around the 2000 elections, then around 9/11) I remember all the talk about how we MUST elect Bush, and then elect a Republican congress and senate, and then the Republicans were going to fix everything that ails us. It was going to be the miracle cure! 50 years of new deal BS was going to get flushed down the drain, and life will be good. Well, I see Republican control of congress, the senate, and the WH, and I see absolutely no improvement. We have more troops in more places, we have bigger...

Does ANYONE know where I can get a hillary doormat? Last I heard, the old site (hillarydoormat.com) got shut down. I am looking for one and would love one. I am sure tons of other freepers would be interested if ANYONE knows where to get one! :)

2000 birds died last fall in down town Toronto due to... skyscrapers? Actually, they did. Apparently, at night, the buildings bright lights lure the birds and during the day, birds see reflections such as trees in the tall buildings and attempt to land. In both cases, the birds crash into the towers and die. The Fatal Light Awareness Program (FLAP) was concerned about this and have suggested to large buisnesses to turn the lights down at night and most have even complied although some are still reluctantto install expensive, less reflective windows. Without some type of money compensation, why should...

Hey, I'm just looking for the text to Bush's 9-11 speech because I have to do an interpretive reading in a college class tomorrow and I want to excerpt from it. Unfortunately, a work meeting ran long and i had to do other classwork, otherwise I'd do the research myself. So I turn to my FRiends: where can I find it? thanks in advance!

Just to take a break from the "Arnold is a RINO/Tom can't win" vanity threads, I wanted to see what Freepers thought about an idea that's been going around in my head for a bit. And I hope that the Mods don't stick it in chat where no one will see it. :^) Most of us have heard of the left-brain/right-brain theory...that both hemispheres are involved in higher cognitive functioning, with each half of the brain specializing in complementary fashion for different modes of thinking, and that each person is predisposed towards one side or the other. Here are some...

Bob Mulholland has just lost whatever tiny piece of sanity he has left. If he represents the state of the Democratic Party in California, Arnold will be their next Governor.

Sorry for the vanity, but my old computer, which was being brought in for repairs, was stolen out of my car the other day, and with it I lost all of my FR threads I had saved since this past March. Hugely irritating. I've tried, but have been unable to get back to view threads since last March. Is it possible? I'm not talking about plugging in words and going backwards; I'd like to start around March 1 and go forward day by day, viewing old threads (yes, I do have a life - it'll take a few months to...

SUMMARY: My wife locks our son in the car near a store. She calls me and I come unlock the door. So, both of us are upset. She says we absolutely need a cell phone. I'm like, "you got hold of me without one, right? People lived for centuries without them." I say we don't have the money. I have enough money in the bank to pay rent, buy groceries, and make the car payment. She's says if I don't buy her one then she has a standing offer from a "friend" to get her one. If you haven't seen...

Last year my children and I baked cookies and wrote thank you notes then delivered them to our 2 local firehouses and the police station. I was wondering what others of you did or are planning to do this year. I want this day to become a tradition for my children of honoring our true heroes and am looking for some creative ideas.

Knowing there's a vast array of talents among you guys (and gals) out there, I'l like your opinions ... a little change of pace for a couple moments ... I'd like to (possibly) finish my basement as reasonably inexpensive as possible. About 1/2 already has sheetrock and the concrete is perfect with moisture barrier installed underneath. No leaks, zero. House is about 9 years old. I know along the unfinished walls they usually use a 2x4 frame (or metal) and then hang the sheetrock on that. So here are the questions: 1) I HATE the idea of nailing into my...

I just read National Review's article on Arlen Specter. I know him and Lincoln Chafee are both very liberal, but I'm just wondering how their voting record stands up to some of the conservative Dems, such as Zell Miller. So, does anybody know what Zell's ACU numbers are, or Chaffee? Or some of the other lib/repubs con/dems?

That Cruz: Looks eerily like Mr. Spacely from the Jetsons? Rick Roberts pointed this out on his show yesterday, and I say it's true!

In a great post re: FDR I came across yesterday there was a link to the Mackinac Center for Public Policy dealing with The Depression. Two interesting paragraphs in that work struck me: "...He (FDR) struck in every known way at the integrity of the U.S. dollar through quantitative and qualitative deterioration. He seized the people's gold holdings...." and "Congress gave the president the power first to seize the private gold holdings and American citizens and then fix the price of gold...Roosevelt also single-handedly torpedoed the London Economic Conference in 1933, which was convened...to bring down tariff rates and restore...
