"War. War never changes."This actually looks pretty good. It's got a strong cast coming together also. Anything with Michael Emerson is bound to be good.

The United States is wiring Ukraine with sensors that can detect bursts of radiation from a nuclear weapon or a dirty bomb and can confirm the identity of the attacker. In part, the goal is to make sure that if Russia detonates a radioactive weapon on Ukrainian soil, its atomic signature and Moscow’s culpability could be verified. Ever since Russia invaded Ukraine 14 months ago, experts have worried about whether President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia would use nuclear arms in combat for the first time since the American bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. The preparations, mentioned last...

The White House on Tuesday said that U.S. support for Ukraine “will remain strong” until the war with Russia is over, comments that come after the Congressional Progressive Caucus withdrew a letter it sent to President Biden on his Ukraine strategy after sparking backlash. “Our support for Ukraine will remain strong until the end of this war,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, adding that she had no comment on the letter itself.

Bethesda has become well-known for its in-depth dialogue and deeply story-driven approach to game design, and its upcoming space-travel title Starfield looks like it will be no exception. The game will incorporate what Howard calls his "favorite speech persuasion system," which he says is set apart from the standard and will require a point-spending speech check system. "It feels like it's part of the dialogue, but you're spending points to persuade them," he explains. "It feels natural, not like I've entered some other mode ... I'm in this mode of persuading you to get what I want." Another topic of...

Maine Democrat Gov. Janet Mills is scrambling to stem political damage from revelations five weeks before the election that her administration was teaching students in an online curriculum that “MAGA” is racist. Both in Tuesday’s debate and in her campaign advertising, the vulnerable Democrat has attempted to fend off allegations about education improprieties from her Republican opponent, former Gov. Paul LePage.

A Japanese company is selling metallic shelters that can be installed in apartments and small houses, for protection against natural disasters and even radiation and missile strikes. WNIshelter specializes in compact shelters designed to resist anything from natural disasters like earthquakes and floods, to missile strikes and radiation. They come with their own air filtration system and come in a variety of sizes, to accommodate anywhere from one to seven people. Japanese shelter manufacturer WNIshelter, which promotes its indoor metallic shelters by referencing the Ukraine war and the so-called “zigzag” missiles developed by North Korea.

The Christian Zionist pastor of a major church asked forgiveness for allowing the church to host an event where Michael Flynn said that the United States should only have one religion. “Last week I allowed an event to be held at Cornerstone Church by an outside organization,” Pastor Matt Hagee said in a statement Thursday. “Regrettably, the organization was not properly vetted. It was not appropriate to allow this event at our church. The Church is not associated with this organization and does not endorse their views.” Hagee’s father is Pastor John Hagee, who founded Christians United For Israel, the...

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) this month subtly erased its section on gain of function from its website following months of Dr. Anthony Fauci falsely denying that the organization funded such research. The original page was reportedly altered this month. It featured a series of sections, including one on gain of function, which was as follows:

For over 2 years, The Epoch Times has been investigating the FBI’s “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation into the 2016 Trump campaign and related FISA abuse, what’s now often known as “Spygate.” According to investigative journalists John Solomon and Seamus Bruner, co-authors of “Fallout,” the seeds of this scandal go back well before President Trump came into the picture, as far back as 2009—and directly involve the highest offices of the country.

Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have set their sights on creating another expansive sci-fi series. The “Westworld” duo are developing a show at Amazon based on the “Fallout” video game franchise. Their Kilter Films banner is producing the project which has a series commitment penalty attached, meaning it would go directly to series if Amazon execs are on board with the scripts. The “Fallout” series, which began in 1997 with the original game, is set in a world where the future envisioned by Americans in the late 1940s explodes upon itself through a nuclear war in 2077. With their...

The core of Fallout 76 still has numerous issues that need fixing... but adding in functioning non-playable characters is probably the most important and necessary update the game’s needed to make. The difference it creates is so huge that you have to wonder what the original thinking behind the NPC free launch was. NPCs change that, having someone else there in the wasteland alongside you simply because having someone else there adds a layer of meaning to everything you do beyond aiming for better gear. There are ramifications and results that affect more than your loadout now. And, if nothing...

ALBANY — The coronavirus pandemic has inflicted heavy financial stress and feelings of job insecurity on New Yorkers, a new poll shows. Siena College found that 77 percent of eligible voters are at least somewhat concerned about the virus and serious financial fallout from it, according to a survey released Monday. Paying monthly bills was a concern for 51 percent of respondents, compared to 45 percent who weren’t worried. Younger folks felt the pinch more, with 61 percent of people ages 18 to 34, and 65 percent of the 35-39 set, saying they’re seriously concerned about meeting monthly financial obligations....

The 2011 earthquake and tsunami that caused Fukushima's nuclear plant to melt down prompted the Japanese goverment to evacuate a huge area as dangerous radiation spread. The evacuated region, which was carved up into several zones based on how the radiation spread, has become home for a wide range of wild animals that apparently found a way to thrive amid the desolation despite the radiation. “Over time, some wildlife species have responded favorably to the absence of humans, even in the presence of high radiation levels, resulting in a rewilding of the evacuation zones,” Thomas Hinton, a radioecologist at the...

This week, The Outer Worlds was released. Obsidian's sci-fi role-playing game may not push the genre forward in any radical way, but it is an excellent example of what's possible when player choice is promoted above all else. I'm busy playing through The Outer Worlds for the third time in about as many weeks, and I'm still finding new ways to complete quests and build my character. It's a fantastic RPG. Again, The Outer Worlds released this week. You know what else released this week? Fallout 1st. A subscription service for Fallout 76 that'll set you back $100 a year....

Full headline: Fallout continues over heavily armed FBI raid of Roger Stone: ‘No reason except to intimidate’ and ‘poison jury pool’Fallout is continuing from the FBI’s decision to send 29 heavily armed agents in 19 vehicles to arrest political operative and longtime Trump associate Roger Stone last week following an indictment by special counsel Robert Mueller. “I’ve been busting down doors for 50 Years, and I’ve never sent that many units, not even to the baddest murderers,” former Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio told The Western Journal. In addition to being sheriff of a county that grew to more...

Slighty buff ammo scavenging [A]ctively punishes you for taking on tough fights because if you lose or have to retreat, you can't just reload and try again, you have to respawn. Slightly buff item durability Having item durability in a game is one thing, but with these encounters, even if you die, that damage remains, meaning your stuff is breaking all the time unless you're devoting a serious amount of points into perk cards that reduce it. Remove the cap cost of fast travel [I]t may have something to do with making it so PvP players can't just stalk people...

Fallout may be one of the biggest AAA gaming franchises around, but over the last few years the post-apocalyptic series has found itself in turmoil. What started out as a gritty narrative-driven role-playing game has, with the release of 2016’s Fallout 4, transformed into more of a silly action game. And with the reveal of Fallout 76 at E3 this year, some fans are convinced the series has fully lost its way. … Veteran fans are disappointed with this news, because they’re used to playing meaty, narrative-driven single-player RPGs without being harassed by other people. Given that Bethesda introduced these...

When Bethesda announced it was showing off a new Fallout game at E3 this year, it was safe to assume that game would be the major focus of the show. That it would be what we were all be talking about afterward. That would have been normal. It's Fallout, for God's sake. But that wasn't the case. In what I'd call one of the best E3 conferences in recent memory, Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls VI -- plus a whole new Elder Scrolls mobile game -- a new Doom, a new Wolfenstein, showed off Rage 2 and Fallout 76 (of...
