World leaders appealed for an end to protests enflamed by further provocation efforts in the cartoon crisis currently straining relations between the Islamic World and the West. On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin pleaded with the Danish administration to apologize for the drawings that satirized the Muslim values.
