Chapel Hill, N.C. (AP) -- Shawn Turschak of Chapel Hill was tired of someone stealing McCain-Palin campaign signs from his yard. Turschak, with a degree in electrical engineering, hooked up a third sign to a power source for an electric pet fence Monday and also put up a surveillance camera. The News & Observer of Raleigh reported that a 9-year-old boy with an Obama-Biden sign grabbed the McCain-Palin sign and got a jolt on Tuesday. ...Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass said he doesn't plan to file charges.

Leroy C. McLaughlin finished his workday on Friday and was cooking dinner when a family member phoned. There's a minor brouhaha in Detroit, Michigan. It all started when John McCain announced that he was giving up on Michigan. Since then, one pizza restaurant has decided that it will give away a free pizza to anyone who brings them a McCain-Palin sign. The result: People (teenagers) stealing signs from people's yards to get free pizza. By the way, the owner of the pizza joint does not hide the fact that she is a Barack Obama supporter.

DFU NOTE: Hundreds of signs have been stolen at 30 per day for 10-15 days. I spoke with the Warren, MI police and they say that no one has made police reports. Wouldn't it be interesting if the McCain camp gave out signs to 1000 people, who all showed up demanding pizza?
