An elite police officer who helped arrest the son of El Chapo was shot 155 times in a brutal car park execution. The 30-year-old officer, identified only as Eduardo, is reported to have been killed outside a shopping centre in the city of Culiacan. He had helped detain Ovidio Guzman, El Chapo's son, last month. He was promptly released. According to local media, the victim was a member of the operation launched by the Culiacan authorities to arrest El Chapo’s son and extradite him to the United States.

The Mexican city of Culiacán descended into terror on Thursday, when soldiers and police launched a raid to capture one of the heirs to the throne of jailed Mexican kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. As state forces advanced into the city, the Sinaloa Cartel hit back with an array of military-style weapons — and won. Mexican officials briefly detained Ovidio Guzman, one of Guzman’s sons who has emerged as a leading figure in the cartel after his father was arrested in 2016. But in response the cartel freed dozens of prisoners from a local jail, set numerous vehicles alight and...

In what appears to have been a routine patrol, 30 members of Mexico's National Guard were caught off guard and ambushed from an unsuspecting local house. After repelling the initial attack, authorities soon discovered Ovidio Guzmán López, son of "El Chapo" and suspected co-leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, hiding inside the home. Chaos quickly ensued as gunmen blocked streets with burning vehicles. The scenes that unfolded were reminiscent of a war zone.

Mexican authorities briefly detained the son of jailed drug kingpin Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán — and then released the younger Guzmán back to one of the world’s most powerful drug cartels after gunmen took to the streets. The events Thursday were a remarkable display of the state’s inability to take on organized crime. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador explained Friday that El Chapo’s son, Ovidio Guzmán, was released “to protect the lives of the people” after the cartel deployed across Culiacan, the capital of Sinaloa state, and neighboring towns, taking over key highways. Residents took videos of the chaos in...

His wife will not be allowed to visit him behind bars and Wednesday was likely the last time they will ever see each other. María Consuelo Loera Pérez, his mother, was denied a humanitarian visa by the US government so could not attend the hearing. Guzman will now be sent to a supermax prison to live out his days.

Accused pedophile Jeffrey Epstein is being kept this close to El Chapo at a Manhattan jail, sources told The Post. Epstein — who was arrested on sex-crime charges last week — landed in cell No. 4, three doors down from Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo’’ Guzman, sources said. Chapo is in cell No. 1 in the notorious solitary-confinement unit of the Metropolitan Correctional Center known as “10 South.” “The place is so f–king disgusting,” Chapo’s lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, told The Post. “In the winter, when it’s 30 degrees outside, you’re freezing your a– off because they’re blowing air conditioning...

How does a prison prepare for the arrival of known escape artist and Mexican drug kingpin, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera? For the ADX "Supermax" prison in Florence, Colo., former warden Robert Hood said administrators will likely stick to the a formula that's prevented any jailbreaks for 25 years. For 23 hours out of the day, El Chapo would be in a soundproof, 7-by-12-foot cell. The bed, desk and stool are all made of poured cement. While most inmates are given a black-and white-television, it's behind a special kind of glass and can be restricted to show old, never live,...

Full title: Why there'll be no escape for El Chapo in 'the prison of all prisons’ known as the ‘Alcatraz of the Rockies’ Mexican drug lord El Chapo faces spending the rest of his life at one of America’s most notorious prisons – to ensure he never escapes again. The convicted drug smuggler, whose real name is Joaquin Guzman, has a record of jailbreaks, having already escaped two high-security Mexican prisons before being captured and extradited to the United States. Experts now believe that Guzman is an ideal candidate for the federal government’s Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado – a...

President Trump on Monday said he would build his long-desired wall along the southern border regardless of whether Congress approves funding for it. "Just so you know, we're building the wall anyway," Trump said at a campaign rally in El Paso, Texas, which sits directly across the Rio Grande from Mexico. Trump spoke shortly after lawmakers said they had reached a funding deal in principle to avoid another government shutdown set to begin on Saturday. The deal includes some money for barriers along the border. The president said he would not sign an agreement that cuts the number of detention...

A now-retired agent of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency wants to see Sean Penn “in jail” for putting lives at risk when the actor interviewed notorious drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman for Rolling Stone in 2015. Jack Riley, 60, came close to seeing El Chapo arrested on Oct. 2, 2015, but the operation conducted by Mexican marines was interrupted when Penn, accompanied by Mexican soap opera actress, Kate del Castillo, arrived at the El Tuna compound, the New York Post reported. "If I could get my hands on Sean Penn!” Riley, a former top agent with the DEA, told...

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador declared an end to his country’s war on drugs Wednesday, announcing that the army would no longer prioritize capturing cartel bosses, Agence France-Press reports. “There is officially no more war. We want peace, and we are going to achieve peace,” he said at a daily press briefing after being asked if his government had captured any kingpins since he assumed office in December. “No capos have been arrested, because that is not our main purpose. The main purpose of the government is to guarantee public safety … What we want is security, to reduce...

RUSH: Have you seen this? El Chapo, the Sinaloa cartel chieftain… El Chapo paid a $100 million bribe (the latest news story here) to an ex-Mexican president while he was president, and everybody’s acting like, “Oh, my God! Oh, my!” (Snort!) It happens every day. The Clintons do this kind of stuff every day. It’s called lobbying. What’s the difference? So El Chapo, who has an interest in illegal drugs, gives a Mexican president $100 million bribe. The Democrats go to Puerto Rico to get their bribes with their lobbyists and with their donors, and they did it in the...

Jurors in drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’s trial Thursday watched footage of the first-ever US Coast Guard interception of a cocaine-packed submarine. Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Todd Bagetis, who took part in the September 2008 seizure, said his crew had been patrolling international waters when they came across the semi-submersible, some 350 miles east of Guatemala. Using night-vision goggles, his team boarded the submarine — where an irate crew immediately tried to sink the boat and toss off the lawmen. “They put the vessel in [reverse] and tried to throw my crew off. My crew were hanging onto the...
