CBS video: Irving Releases 14 pages of Threatening Emails Quote: "There are consequences. We are a group of aircraft owners, operators and pilots who provide free emergency and non-emergency space available air transportation." "Not for you (expletive)'s. All employees of Irving ISD and the Irving PD and their immediate family members are banned from our aircraft." "That means that our members will watch your child die bleeding and convulsing on the Love Field tarmac." "If you do not stand down and (back) away from your position, I'll be detaining police officers in your jurisdiction who possess any suspicious looking...
  • Veterans Deserve Choice of Quality Higher Education

Historically, Democrats have been politically vulnerable on military issues. The recent missteps President Barack Obama has made in dealing with Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) and the situation in Syria are hurting his party’s chances for keeping control of the Senate in the next Congress. Another problem for the President and Congressional Democrats, is having to spend the 2014 election cycle explaining to voters why our Veterans Hospitals are government-run healthcare disasters. In Phoenix, Veterans Administration secretary Robert McDonald acknowledged that secret waiting lists and bad care needlessly “caused the death of veterans.”Why is such an outrage...
  • Increasing Education Spending Does Not Equal Higher Test Scores

Over the last four decades, education spending has steadily increased in the United States, yet schools are not delivering the return on investment students and families deserve. The total cost to educate a student from kindergarten through high school graduation has nearly tripled from $56,903 in 1972 to $164,426 in 2010 (adjusted for inflation), while National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) scores remained about the same (Figure 1). Given this snapshot of national spending and scores, how have individual states fared in this time period?

PITTSBURGH -- The Pennsylvania Department of Education is looking into a newly surfaced report indicating possible cheating on state standardized tests. The data forensics report examines results of the 2009 Pennsylvania System of School Assessment, or PSSA. The annual tests measure math and reading skills in students statewide. The report flags exam scores in about 35 districts, plus some charter schools. It does not assert cheating occurred, but says that certain answer patterns and erasures make the results suspicious.
  • Lenin on America part 9: Russians and Negroes

What a strange comparison, the reader may think. How can a race be compared with a nation? It is a permissible comparison. The Negroes were the last to be freed from slavery, and they still bear, more than anyone else, the cruel marks of slavery—even in advanced countries—for capitalism has no “room” for other than legal emancipation, and even the latter it curtails in every possible way. With regard to the Russians, history has it that they were “almost” freed from serf bondage in 1861. It was about the same time, following the civil war against the American slaveowners, that...

He is an editorial columnist who has frequently been published in numerous Internet and newspaper forums. It’s been discovered. Nobody thought having “safe sex” was possible in every case. Each year 2.6 million teenagers become sexually active—a rate of 7000/day. With high school, nearly half report having engaged in sexual activity and 1/3 are currently active (Kim/Rector//Heritage Foundation). As it turns out, teen sexual activity is extremely costly for teens and for society as a whole. From 1985-1990 alone, the federal government spent $120 billion...

Whitehouse, OH (LifeNews.com) -- High school students in a Toledo suburb were threatened with having to skip prom and other senior graduation events if they didn't remove their pro-life T-shirts. A group of students had planned to draw attention to the destruction of human life in abortion until school officials got upset. The students wore matching T-shirts with the message, "Abortion is homicide" but the April 21st coordinated event drew the ire of school administrators.Kristen Norman told WTOL-TV the Anthony Wayne High School students were ready to stand up for their free speech rights until school officials kept adding more...
  • Unions Frantic: Will School Choice Referendum Prevail in Utah?

No one says, “As goes Utah, so goes the nation,” but what happens over the next month in the Beehive State may well affect the prospects for education reform nationwide. Last February, Utah’s Republican Gov. John Huntsman signed into law an education voucher bill that promised to help the parents of Utah’s 512,000 public school students send their children to the school of their choice—public or private. The Parent Choice in Education Act was subsequently challenged and a referendum has put the issue before the state’s voters on November 6. A majority vote is needed to uphold school choice. It’s...

I was sitting at our neighborhood pool New Year’s morning, enjoying the great South Florida weather while trying to grind out a couple of chapters for my new book, when three high school girls took the chaise lounges next to me and started talking about their New Year’s Eve party with their high school mates. Seemingly still semi-drunk from the party, the 16- and 17-year-old girls began to recount how much coke, weed, vodka, guys and girls they did the night before. Listening to the F-bomb riddled report of the previous night’s peccadilloes left me thinking, how sad … and...
