Young people, women, and Democrats reported the largest drops.Confidence in higher education has plummeted to its lowest level ever according to the results of two new national polls commissioned by FIRE and conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago. In two AmeriSpeak panels representative of the U.S. household population, we asked Americans: “How much confidence, if any, do you have in U.S. colleges and universities?” This question was first asked in February and then again in May, and its wording is similar to a question posed by Gallup in Summer 2023 when Americans were asked about their confidence in...

President Biden went to a posh fundraiser at a New Jersey mansion Saturday and reportedly claimed to the crowd that his gaffe-filled, disastrous debate against Donald Trump actually converted undecided voters to his camp. The 81-year-old Commander-in-Chief made the dubious declaration at a private event at the home of New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, which his wife announced had raised $3.7 million, NJ.com reported. While Biden admitted to the small crowd that his debate performance was lackluster — prompting several major newspapers to call on him to bow out of his reelection bid — he said voters interpreted the event...

The flood of illegal immigrants is starting to take effect on the crime situation. It's already bad with our homegrown bunch reared with little or no values, but now we have to deal with thousands out of the millions of illegal immigrants who not only have no values, they have been TAUGHT FROM THEIR YOUTH how to steal from and defraud others. A Spanish-speaking customer who just now stopped by told me he took another hard-working Hispanic friend from Austin to Houston to buy a 2023 Tacoma 4WD TRD pickup from an Hispanic. He made several mistakes, but that is...

I'm just wondering. This question came up in Quora. I could only answer from a British tradition, where if you have officers of equal rank then the eldest officer is given command. Presumably the same is if there are only privates left, the eldest private would take command until a senior can be found to take command. However, I don't what happens in American tradition. If you have officers of equal rank, who gets command or if the lowest ranks soldiers find themselves without a senior officer, what is the American military procedure to deciding who gets command until a...

U.S. — Kristi Noem's penchant for putting down untrainable animals made her popular with Democrats following last night's Presidential Debate, with her phone reportedly ringing off the hook ever since. Democrats from all over the country were calling to implore the South Dakota Governor to "please please" take Biden out behind the White House shed and put him out of his misery. "I just can't imagine how hard it must be for the poor guy," said one caller, later identified as California Governor Gavin Newsom. "The president can barely move. That's not a life worth living. He deserves the dignity...

ATLANTA — President Biden impressed millions of viewers during tonight's presidential debate by inventing a brand new language live on TV. "We find idea where fadffkvk damavdvdv," Biden said, demonstrating his brand new language. The new language appears to be a mix of English words, repurposed with new definitions, along with other words that are nearly impossible to pronounce. "Dvafd remfamf mfahahm," Biden continued. "Malarkey! The idea fvfvfv!" The debate moderators appeared to struggle with Biden's fantastic and efficient new language at first but stopped worrying when they realized it wouldn't change what they thought of the president's debate performance....

ATLANTA, GA — In a shocking turn of events, CNN revealed that presidential candidate Donald Trump tested positive for Diet Coke in a drug test administered before tonight's debate against Joe Biden. The doctor CNN hired to run tests on Trump and Biden revealed that Trump's Blood Coca-Cola Content (BCCC) levels were hovering around 0.10%, an indication that the former president had probably ingested somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.5 liters of Diet Coke in the 24 hours leading up to the test. "This amount of Diet Coke would kill an average person," said Dr. James Klug. "The first warning...

CHAUTAUQUA — Having experienced the White House during the time of three different presidents, Andrew Card Jr., former chief of staff, has seen the changes in the political state of America during his time in the position. Speaking at Chautauqua Institution on Wednesday as a part of the Institution’s opening week, Card began by discussing how he first got into politics and how he was a big fan of George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan, two of the three presidents he would work under. Card became “very involved” in campaigns, including the 1980 cycle, which he said involved 22 Republicans....

This year, Arizona State Senator Ken Bennett (R-1) voted against legislation to protect children from transgenderism in their public schools, as well as legislation that would bar satanic displays from public property. In February, Bennett voted with Democrats to kill Senate Resolution 1013, which would have put restrictions on transgenderism in public schools up for a vote among the people of Arizona. If approved, the resolution would have barred public schools from allowing men to use girls’ restrooms and changing facilities (and vice-versa), while also barring public schools from socially transitioning children behind their parent’s backs.Bennett said that he voted against...

Red Lobster, known for bringing all-you-can-eat shrimp to the average American and which was at on point the world’s largest seafood chain, filed for bankruptcy last month. Red Lobster now has more than one billion dollars in debt. They closed 50 locations about two months ago and just announced a list of 600 locations it plans to close. What went wrong? Same Old, Same Old Remember going to Red Lobster as a kid? You might have tried your first lobster tail, or surf-n-turf there. That experience you had as a kid, would be hardly different if you went into one...

PROVO, Utah (AP) — A pair of moderate Utah Republicans won primary elections Tuesday for U.S. Senate and governor over far-right candidates who are loyalists to former President Donald Trump, the latest example of how Utah is a rare Republican state that doesn’t fully embrace Trump’s stranglehold on the GOP. U.S. Rep. John Curtis, who won the GOP primary for Mitt Romney’s open U.S. Senate seat, and Gov. Spencer Cox still support Trump and many of his policies but have shown a willingness to stake out different positions on issues where they disagree. Curtis and Cox both defeated candidates who...

Remember when everyone would tell you once you had a degree, you’d be set for life? Turns out, they meant you’d be set for a lifetime of disappointment instead. Back in 2009, over 70% of recent high school grads attended college. Today, enrollment is down over 15% from its peak, with more students opting for trade jobs over office gigs. Not even cringey TikToks from the Big Four accounting firms can convince them otherwise…Career detour: In a recent survey, over half of Americans said they believe a college degree isn’t worth it. Many young people are taking their high school...

Canada: it's that country up to the North. But is it any better than America? Let's take a look at a comprehensive comparison of the two countries: Weights & Measures Canada: Uses the metric system just like Communist Russia USA: Measures everything in touchdowns per AR-15 Winner: USA Free Speech Canada: Can be jailed for misgendering non-binary people such as Justin Trudeau USA: Jailing people for political reasons? Ha, that will never happen here. Winner: USA Healthcare Canada: 7-month wait for free treatment, but unfortunately, the treatment is suicide USA: 1-month wait to pay $500,000 so the doctor can give...

EDMONTON — Following Canada's loss of the Stanley Cup to America for the 31st time in a row, international authorities have confirmed that Canada will indeed lose its status as a recognized country, as Stanley Cup tradition demands. Canadian sources have confirmed that countries across the globe are already in the process of withdrawing ambassadors and embassies from the former country, while NATO has already passed a motion withdrawing Canada from the organization. "As much as it pains us to do this, we can simply no longer stand by and continue to pretend that Canada is a real nation," commented...

Hauling in a big fish here folks. Today, the audiobook release has been completed for Friedrich Hayek's intellectual essay The Use of Knowledge in Society, which can be downloaded here: https://librivox.org/the-use-of-knowledge-in-society-by-friedrich-hayek/I have a lot of goals I wish to accomplish, but seeing the completion of this Hayek book as well as the Mises book that should be done soon, brings our Librivox books into view of a much more diverse crowd of consumers and that has a lot of value. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Use_of_Knowledge_in_SocietyI am so happy and excited that this has been completed and is now available, I can't wait to go...

A rock core in a sample tube, with Martian atmosphere in its “headspace.” Photo: NASA/JPL-Caltech/ASU/MSSS The Perseverance rover has been toiling on the Martian surface for over three years, collecting rock samples that will eventually be brought to Earth if all goes according to plan. But the rover has also picked up hitchhikers, in the form of traces of Martian atmosphere that are squeezed into the “headspace” of the sample tubes. That’s very exciting for atmospheric scientists, who so far have only studied Mars’ air remotely, whether from orbiters characterizing the planet from on high or from rovers delivering readouts...

it will take about an hour and a half to watch. Excellent documentary that gives an accurate picture of America's founding, the political struggles of the last 200+ years and gives the you a good understanding of how we got from a loose confederation that valued limited government, decentralized power, individual liberty and a non interventionist foreign policy to a bloated dying empire constantly meddling and engaging in constant wars all around the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzg-yyhZPP0

It’s been nearly three months since the U.S. government announced an outbreak of the bird flu virus on dairy farms. The World Health Organization considers the virus a public health concern because of its potential to cause a pandemic, yet the U.S. has tested only about 45 people across the country. “We’re flying blind,” said Jennifer Nuzzo, director of the Pandemic Center at the Brown University School of Public Health. With so few tests run, she said, it’s impossible to know how many farmworkers have been infected, or how serious the disease is. A lack of testing means the country...
