A Salisbury man infamously known for a shooting at a Washington, D.C. pizza restaurant was identified as the man who was shot and killed by officers during a traffic stop earlier this month in Kannapolis. A Kannapolis Police officer patrolled North Cannon Boulevard around 10 p.m. on Jan. 4 when he recognized a GMC Yukon normally driven by someone he knew had an outstanding warrant for their arrest. The officer pulled over the Yukon and while talking to the driver, recognized the passenger in the front seat as Edgar Maddison Welch, 36, who had an outstanding warrant for felony probation...

A US man who opened fired in a Washington DC pizza restaurant because of an online conspiracy theory has been sentenced to four years in prison. Edgar Maddison Welch, 28, burst into Comet Ping Pong on 4 December 2016 armed with a rifle and pistol. He drove from North Carolina to pursue bogus claims that the restaurant was the nexus of a child sex ring linked to Hillary Clinton's inner circle. No one was injured in what prosecutors described as an "armed invasion". Welch fired an assault rifle into a locked cabinet, believing that abused children were being kept there....

(CNN)The criminal case against the North Carolina man whom police say fired shots in a Washington pizzeria while investigating an online conspiracy theory escalated to federal district court Tuesday, as prosecutors revealed new details about Edgar Welch's alleged plans for an armed siege.

It appears that a man, who is described as being in his late 20s, entered Comet Ping Pong (another pizza place in DC which is owned by James Achilles Alefantis – owner of Comet Pizza in DC) today with a rifle or a gun of some type.... Other reports are indicating that the man was later identified as Edgar Maddison Welch, 28 years of age, from Salisbury, North Carolina....
