A Salisbury man infamously known for a shooting at a Washington, D.C. pizza restaurant was identified as the man who was shot and killed by officers during a traffic stop earlier this month in Kannapolis.
A Kannapolis Police officer patrolled North Cannon Boulevard around 10 p.m. on Jan. 4 when he recognized a GMC Yukon normally driven by someone he knew had an outstanding warrant for their arrest. The officer pulled over the Yukon and while talking to the driver, recognized the passenger in the front seat as Edgar Maddison Welch, 36, who had an outstanding warrant for felony probation violation.
When the officer attempted to open the passenger door to arrest Welch, investigators claimed that Welch pulled a handgun from his jacket and pointed it at the officer. That officer, and a second officer who arrived to assist with the traffic stop, commanded Welch to drop the weapon. He allegedly refused, leading to both officers shooting him.

What’s so strange about this>?
You pull a gun on a cop and you’re gonna get shot.
i’m more surprised they told him to drop the gun when he was pointing at the cop.
Dude should have been swiss cheese that very second.
Sad, for everyone involved.
Kannapolisgate?
“Welch was sentenced to four years in federal prison after he entered Comet Ping Pong in Washington on Dec. 4, 2016, with firearms and fired shots inside the building. He said he drove to the restaurant from North Carolina to investigate an unfounded conspiracy theory about Democrats committing child sex crimes at the pizza restaurant.
“The incident became known as “Pizzagate.” Welch pleaded guilty to a federal charge of interstate transport of firearms and a Washington D.C. charge of assault with a dangerous weapon. He was sentenced in June 2017 to four years in prison and was released in March 2020.”
So many times a traffic stop means the officer gets shot and usually killed.
Really old 1989 Dept. of Justice, Office of Justice Programs analysis....
“The information is based on FBI data covering all police deaths during traffic stops during an 8-year period. The analysis revealed that 45 percent of the police officers were killed early in the stop. The majority of these were killed during the approach, when they were 6-9 feet from the violator’s vehicle. A significant proportion of the police officers were shot while leaving their police vehicles. A substantial number of the violators who killed officers at this juncture had just committed or were wanted for a crime. Violators intended to kill the police officers in 60 percent of the cases. Police officers had some hint of danger in one-third of the cases. Twenty-five percent of the police officers were killed during some sort of roadside argument or scuffle. Seventy-nine percent of the police officers were not wearing vests. The analysis also indicated that all pursuits involve high danger. The videotape advises police officers never to let down their guard.”

Amazing variety of types of reasons for deaths of officers:
51 shot to death, 10 struck by vehicle, 2 strangled....

So, the officer recognized the car
Because the car is normally driven by someone with an outstanding warrant.
But, apparently, the actual driver wasn’t that guy.
But while talking with the driver
The officer recognized the passenger
As someone who had an outstanding warrant.
So the officer went to arrest the passenger
And the passenger pulled a gun
Which the passenger pointed at the officer, but made no attempt to use
And the two cops ended up shooting him
Seems about as legit as everything else connected to Pizzagate.
Democrats trying to cover all the bases before Trump takes office.
After New Orleans and Las Vegas on New Years this story is just as believable.
What did he know that caused what appears to be a targeted hit?
Huh? This is the Streisand effect.
The main thing I find hard to believe about this theory is that it's unfounded.
The body camera videos and the Police camera video have both been already released to the public.... Right? They have been released for the public to look at what happened and to comment on it... Right.... Right???
You have to admit, this is weird language construction:
“When the officer attempted to open the passenger door to arrest Welch, investigators claimed that Welch pulled a handgun from his jacket and pointed it at the officer.”
INVESTIGATORS claimed that Welch pulled a handgun? Not the officers involved in the shooting, but INVESTIGATORS? An investigation took place and was concluded ALREADY? No-one knew the identity of the shooter until AFTER the investigation?
I noticed the link goes to a local TV newscast website. Local TV journalism is comprised of bubble-headed bleach blondes that come on at five and junior college journalism school dropouts.
Most 5th graders can write copy better than a TV news reporter.
We are Moorseville and the other week there was a shooting at one of the Micky Deez across from where My other half works part time and the guy's body was dumped down the street a few blocks.
When I moved here in 2011 it was a nice quiet little town with mostly the NUTSCAR Teams based here and many of the Drivers were living here.
Lately the traffic has gotten really bad with stupid moves, idiotic moves and just downright ridiculous, bad, dumb A$$âŽD people behind the wheel doing dangerous things and there don't even seem to give a $}{!T !!! (BTW I learned to drive in Houston. I'm glad I did because the things that I learned there were valuable lessons that have saved My A$$ many times.)
The damned charlotte gangs and their wannabe gang members are now coming up this way more and more every year to do their membership thug testing.
The damned politicians want to turn Mooresville into little charlotte with Bars replacing the old businesses that have been here for decades. We have the original old fashioned Hardware Store on Main Street that celebrated it's 125th Birthday in 2024 and still in the original location. If You are in the area stop in and say Hello to Jack and Danny and maybe the Sisters will be there also. If you want the latest update on what's happening in Town They will know it.
I think that we are slowly getting things turned around and headed back to the way things were.ððð
