Nifong's Replacement Announced By Rebecca Hall (06/20/07 -- RALEIGH) - According to a release from Gov. Easley's office, Superior Court Judge Jim Hardin, at the request of the Governor, has agreed to fill the vacancy of Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong. Hardin will fill the position immediately, and is expected to be off the bench for about two months. Wednesday the state legislature gave the final green light to a bill that will give Governor Mike Easley the power to immediately remove Mike Nifong from office.
