There was a happy ending for some baby ducklings trapped in a storm drain near Interstate 680, in Concord Saturday. A Good Samaritan noticed them around noon near the Willow Pass off-ramp and called the fire department. When fire crews arrived, they successfully removed the eight ducklings from the storm drain and reunited them with their parent. According to a Contra Costa Fire Department dispatcher, the firefighters scooped them up and put them in a bag. Then they moved them to the other side of the road where mama duck was waiting.

Florida State Seminoles players returned from the Rose Bowl to find their cars keyed and their tires slashed. The Florida State Seminoles carried a 29-game win streak into the Rose Bowl match up against the No. 2 Oregon Ducks on Thursday. The game serving as a semi-final match up for the first ever College Football Playoff. The defending national champion Seminoles felt disprespected to be seeded despite and undefeated 2014 regular season. That ranking looked fair after Oregon handily defeated the Seminoles in the Rose Bowl, 59-20. It was an embarrassing loss for the Seminoles, but an impressive victory for...

Most of us would describe the runaway hit TV show “Duck Dynasty” with terms such as “redneck,” “duck hunting,” “bayou,” “backwoods” and, of course, “beards.” However, I would argue that the word the Robertson family would most like their viewers to associate them with is “faith.”

“People have been waiting a long time for this,” said Ducks forward Emerson Etem, who grew up rooting for the Kings in his native Long Beach. “It’s huge for the game down here.” And it’s huge for the Los Angeles sports scene, which has never experienced a matchup quite like the series that begins in Orange County on Saturday night. The Lakers and the Clippers have never met in the NBA postseason. The Dodgers and the Angels have never reached the World Series together. The Rams and the Raiders never reached the Super Bowl at the same time when they...

A disgruntled worker hatched an unusual revenge plot against his former boss when he sent more than 1,000 baby ducks to his home. Builder Chiu Xiang arranged for the 1,130 live ducklings to be dropped in the home of his employer, Hung Bin, in a dispute over wages. The 60-year-old, who worked for Bin for three years, said he was owed £300 in unpaid wages after quitting his job in China’s Sichuan province last year, according to the Shanghaiist. ‘It was all he deserved,’ he said. ‘I hope the ducks drove him quackers.’ Xiang organised for a contact who runs...

Firefighters rescued two ducklings from an Oregon City storm drain Friday, officials said. A couple near Beavercreek Road and Highway 213 saw the ducklings struggling to follow their mother up a curb when they fell into the drain, said Jed Wachlin of Clackamas Fire District No. 1. The couple called the non-emergency line and a fire engine from Station 16 was dispatched about 9:30 a.m. Firefighters quickly found the ducklings and pulled them out safely, using "the simple compassion and care located in every Clackamas tool box," Wachlin said.

Phil Robertson has spoken out for the first time since his homophobic comments in a magazine interview went public and refused to go back on his controversial remarks, saying: ‘I will not give or back off from my path.’ The Duck Dynasty patriarch led a small Bible study group in his home town church in West Monroe, Louisiana on Sunday, granting MailOnline exclusive access. Robertson replied: ‘I didn’t think much of it at all, but it seems a lot of other people did’. And at the end of the session he led a defiant prayer, which included the words, ‘I...

Sporting a brace on his left knee, Mariota turned in his worst performance of the season in Oregon's loss to Stanford, its first of the year. He finished with negative rushing yards for the first time this season and could not get the Ducks on the scoreboard until the fourth quarter, when he threw two touchdowns. The comeback effort fell short after Oregon could not recover a second onside kick.

he past few days, the Internet has been filled with commentary on whether the National Science Foundation should have paid for my study on duck genitalia, and 88.7 percent of respondents to a Fox news online poll agreed that studying duck genitalia is wasteful government spending. The commentary supporting and decrying the study continues to grow. As the lead investigator in this research, I would like to weigh in on the controversy and offer some insights into the process of research funding by the NSF. My research on bird genitalia was originally funded in 2005, during the Bush administration. Thus...
