What do I mean by cultural capitulation? I mean bowing down to the latest cultural fad, of kowtowing to the most current manifestation of what is PC, of becoming slaves to whatever the societal elites decide is acceptable.

The older a person gets, the less surprised by people they tend to be, or can be. Then along comes Richard Dreyfuss – a man I thought was a liberal actor and maybe he is, in the classic- liberal sense anyway. The US Presidential race was hotting up last night as this snap - said to be of White House hopeful Sarah Palin - sent the web into meltdown. The nude photo emerged hours after Sarah, once a teenage beauty queen in her home state of Alaska, was named as Republican John McCain's running-mate. Actor and Democratic activist/contributor Richard Dreyfuss, who after 9-11 claimed a “lack of clarity” as to America’s reasons for war against terror, yesterday promoted an America of intellectually sophisticated children, unhampered by allegiance to any particular viewpoint. Speaking before the National Press Club, Dreyfuss lamented that adults are often “victims of political hypnosis,” and decried parental tendencies to pass on their political views to their children.
