ISLAMABAD, Aug 17, 2002 (Kyodo via COMTEX) -- Unidentified gunmen Friday night killed a senior commander of the Afghan army 70th corps, about 26 kilometers southwest of Mazar Sharif in Northern Afghanistan, Afghan Islamic Press has reported. Quoting its own sources, Pakistan-based news agency said that Ghulam Sakhi Bashi, deputy commander of the 70th corps, was gunned down at Chayulek, outside Mazar Sharif but full details and circumstances in which he was killed were not known.
