Donald Trump has taken a two point lead over rival Hillary Clinton, according to the latest USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times “Daybreak” poll. According to the poll, which was largely conducted before the FBI announced that it had found new emails that may be relevant to its investigation into Clinton’s private email server, Trump is leading among respondents by 46.2 percent to Clinton’s 43.8 percent. …

Let's jump right into this, because this post is going to be a bit on the wonky side. It's presidential silly season, as we have said before, and this iteration of it is particularly bad, like a dumpster fire that suddenly has a thousand gallons of gasoline dropped onto it from a crop-duster flown by a blind zombie. Which, of course, makes it quite fascinating to watch for those of us with an independent persuasion. Chiefly interesting for myself is watching how the polls shift and change with each landmark on this sad, sad journey. It makes poll aggregating groups,...

This comes after the media onslaught and treason by Republican elites after a 2005 audio was released last week of Donald Trump bragging about p*ssy. Trump has 34% of the Hispanic vote in the poll. If Trump holds these numbers he will gain a larger percent of the Hispanic since 2004. And that’s with his promise to build a border wall. Mitt Romney gained 21 percent of the Latino vote in the 2012 election. Senator John McCain received 23 percent of the Latino vote in the 2008 election.
  • [Vanity] Trump’s numbers off 1.3 in Dornsife La Times poll; this could be the “Bradley Effect”

Donald Trump has lost his lead in the Dornsife La Times. He is now down .4% after a big fall. What is the cause? “Let’s go to the video tape!” as a New York area sports reporter used to say. This is day four of Dornsife’s seven day roiling poll and was to be expected. The Trump tape took effect yesterday and will be WORSE tomorrow. When the results of the second debate and the new email drops take hold tomorrow and Friday there should be an improvement. There may also be some "Bradley effect" here as well. The "Wilder...

The 2016 USC Dornsife / LA Times Presidential Election Poll represents a pioneering approach to tracking changes in Americans' opinions throughout a campaign for the White House. Around 3000 respondents in our representative panel are asked questions on a regular basis on what they care about most in the election, and on their attitudes toward their preferred candidates. The "Daybreak poll" is updated just after midnight every day of the week.

The USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times "Daybreak" poll tracks about 3,000 eligible voters until election day, asking on a regular basis about their support for Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump or other candidates as well as their likelihood of actually casting a ballot. We update the data each day based on the weighted average of poll responses over the previous week. That means results have less volatility than some other polls, but also means the poll lags somewhat in responding to major events in the campaign. More about the poll and why it differs from others. Who would you vote for? We...

I’m tired of hearing about the poll from Donald Trump fans such as Reince Priebus, Matt Drudge and Donald Trump himself.1There’s nothing wrong with being your own No. 1 fan! They frequently cherry-pick that poll because it consistently shows much better results for Trump than the other surveys. As of Tuesday morning, for example, the poll showed the race as virtually tied — Hillary Clinton 44.2 percent, Trump 44.0 percent — even when the national poll average has Clinton up by about 6 percentage points instead. This has been a fairly consistent difference between this poll and most others. Take...
