This would be tremendous if it turns out to be the case. You would have forged documents, somehow or another appearing in the hands of DNC staffers, turned over to the Kerry campaign, who then slips them to CBS (Kerry's best friend in the mainstream media) so that they can be used as "damning evidence" against President Bush by Dan Rather on one of the premiere investigative news shows in America. This, my friends, could be the Democrat party's Watergate. Think about it, though there are obvious differences between the two scenarios, there are a lot of fundamental conceptual similarities....

I watched Stephen Hayes from the Weekly Standard on O' Reilly, with Tony Snow sitting in. He had former CBS executive sit in. I thought Hayes was far too non-committal. Instead of stressing how many experts say the documents are forged, he kept repeating about "serious questions" being raised. The CBS exec was on the defensive very early on, but seemed to sense that he wasn't going to be challenged too much and started stressing 60 Minutes procedures and integrity, comparing them to the lack of any standards for bloggers. Hayes took exception, but kept talking about "serious questions having...

Ivan appears to be headed to Florida - Those poor people can NOT get a break this year! I'm waiting to see the documents that prove Bush asked God to keep poor voters home by wiping the state out with hurricanes! Sounds like the drool that comes out of McAulffe's pie hole! DKK

On Wednesday night, CBS News released four memos it claimed were written in 1972 and 1973 by George W. Bush's commander in the Texas Air National Guard. In one of the documents, Lt. Col. Jerry B. Killian writes that a Guard official was "pushing to sugar coat" Bush's training evaluation; in another, Killian suspects that Bush is "talking to someone upstairs" about getting transferred. Within a few hours of the CBS report, bloggers were questioning the authenticity of the documents. By today, the doubts were on the front page of the Washington Post.

How is it going to get resolved? Could go against us, or just degenerate into he said-she said. By which time a week of talking about Bush National Guard will have gone by, with some damage, in my view. Meanwhile Lurch continues to fester. Here’s praying the polls hold up for another couple weeks till RatherGate is behind us.

As we strain to read the latest headlines through tears of laughter, we are reminded why old media journalism is held in the same public regard as pedophiles and fitness club owners. The "Rocky" of news stories, Bush's National Guard service, is out for a fourth tour of duty starring the new Brigitte Nielsen, a nice set of fake, memos which show once and for all that Bush is unfit for the presidency because he failed to properly clean a toilet stall or something on the last day of his Texas Guardship in 1972. Poor, dumb Dan Rather and CBS...

The broadcast network morning shows put a much higher priority Thursday morning on hyping the Jerry Killian memos as damaging to President Bush than they did Friday morning to exploring the possibility that the memos were forged. At the top of Thursday's Good Morning America, Charles Gibson trumpeted: "New questions about President Bush's military record. Did family friends pull strings? Did he get special treatment? And did he disobey orders?" While GMA gave more time Friday than CBS and NBC combined to the forgery possibility, George Stephanopoulos gave credence to how "a lot of Democrats suspect this was a set...

Pat Caddell on Fox News Live this morning excoriated the Kerry campaign, and suggested they are behind the faked memos. I have posted an instant transcript at: http://homepage.mac.com/mkoldys/iblog/index.html

1. Ap sued for the release of these documents right? The ap should be providing the public with its chain of custody. Or are these seperate papers that CBS magically made appear? 2. When will the pentagon open its own investigation? Forging military documents is a felony, along with forging signatures.

With wreath of mike wires at it's brow and klieg lights at it's feet, The Old Press stiffens in it's box Arranged all prim and neat. Twas not progress killed it and placed it on the shelf; But Rather, truth it could not bear - And so, it killed itself.

CBS NEWS executives have launched an internal investigation into whether its premiere news program 60 MINUTES aired fabricated documents relating to Bush's National Guard service, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Would appear some democrat by the name of coldfeet has made very similar documents as those CBS used. Notice the use use of the superscript in the below sample document. A article on Bush AWOL on democrat.com that was written in 2000 links to it (a href=http://www.democrats.com/display.cfm?id=157>Click Here.) Let me paste a background quote from the page here: As Marty Heldt points out in TomPaine.com, a document entitled "Military Biography of George Walker Bush" shows that Bush was subsequently assigned to headquarters in Denver from October 2, 1973 to November 21, 1974. He concludes that Bush was "punished" with 6...

"Espionage then and today is very real and active measures, manipulation of public opinion, was very real at that time." On the CBS Evening News on July 30th, Dan Rather acted as if he had a big scoop. He said, "Newly released FBI documents obtained by CBS News reveal a widespread domestic spying and intelligence operation. Thousands of ordinary American citizens were under surveillance throughout the 1980s." Rather said these individuals appeared in FBI files because the bureau was monitoring Soviet "active measures" or influence activities directed at Americans. Rather said they included disinformation, the use of front groups and...

We should FReep abcnews.com to let them know that we appreciate the honest reporting on the documentgate. They actually go through the arguments that you see listed here on FR. We are always quick to chastise, but a positive email when someone does right really helps our cause.

Just heard inteview excerpt on ABC News on WMAL with widow of LTC Killian. Mrs. Killian said that she doubted the authenticity of the documents. Not LTC Killian's language and LTC Killian didn't type.

Are editors at the AP ignoring their own newswire? Believe it or not, they have posted yet another bogus Nat'l Guard story which ignores an earlier AP story which casts doubt on the very memos used to write the subsequent story!

Sorry, but due to excessive hits, this page is temporarily out of service. Please check back after the election. For those who want my opinion...the documents appear to be done in Word, and then copied repeatedly to make them "fuzzy". They use features that were not available on office typewriters the 1970s, specifically the combination of proportional spacing with superscript font. The IBM Executive has proportional spacing, but used fixed type bars. The Selectric has changeable type elements, but fixed spacing (some models could be selected at 10 or 12 pitch, but that's all). The Selectric Composer was not an...

Passions are running high inside CBS News as the network is facing yet another outpouring of public discontent, this time over 60 Minutes's boneheaded decision to publicize phony documents "proving" that George W. Bush was AWOL from the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War. Many staffers are placing the blame squarely on the shoulders of Dan Rather who they say was the driving force behind a shoddily researched story that ought never to have aired. Meanwhile, CBS's News publicity flacks have abandoned answering their phones, overwhelmed with calls from angry viewers and inquisitive journalists.

from the Kerry Ammo Armory...email-able, copyright-ready cartoon you can use in emails, on blogs, in flyers, on posters... anything that's noncommercial. Kerry’s a crook Talon News is reporting that Sen. John Kerry is guilty of taking foreign contributions: Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates government corruption, has released declassified documents which they say show that Democrat presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry accepted improper campaign contributions during his 1996 reelection bid. In exchange, Judicial Watch says Kerry helped arrange meetings between Chinese aerospace executives and U.S. Government officials. The heavily redacted FBI documents show that Johnny Chung, who plead...

The American way On the other side of the Atlantic, where juries are revered, UK lawyers’ squeamishness about serving is given short shrift, as everyone over there is expected to do their bit. “Juries are one of the hallmarks of a well-functioning democracy,” says Covington & Burling white collar crime partner Lanny Breuer, who is the lawyer who represented Bill Clinton in his impeachment proceedings. “A citizen can’t be imprisoned or have his or her liberty taken away simply by the act of an official such as a judge, and that’s why we put juries on such a pedestal.” In...
