Less to Forgery Than Content in AM, ABC Suggests GOP "Set UP" (by Republicans)

The broadcast network morning shows put a much higher priority Thursday morning on hyping the Jerry Killian memos as damaging to President Bush than they did Friday morning to exploring the possibility that the memos were forged. At the top of Thursday's Good Morning America, Charles Gibson trumpeted: "New questions about President Bush's military record. Did family friends pull strings? Did he get special treatment? And did he disobey orders?"

While GMA gave more time Friday than CBS and NBC combined to the forgery possibility, George Stephanopoulos gave credence to how "a lot of Democrats suspect this was a set up, something set up by Republicans.

CUT:

Stephanopoulos found it reasonable to consider that it all may be a set up to hurt Democrats: "It's certainly possible. And Charlie, I've just got to tell you, people from all over the political world yesterday, they don't even know where the dirty tricks are coming from. I should say, just before we got on the air, Joe Lockhart of the Kerry campaign denies that the Kerry campaign had anything to do with these documents. Another Kerry researcher says they learned about them on television. A lot of Democrats suspect this was a set up, something set up by Republicans. So there's a lot of suspicion going around on all sides."

If that were true and teh GOP was behind it, Dan Rather would have revealed his sources faster than a Texas mule running across a highway, after being caught eating buckwheats in a Texas flood that was....DAMN! Sorry. I lost Kenneth's Frequency!

My, my... another connection the media sees but they still can't see any connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda nor do they see any connection between WMD programs, laboratories, and factories and actual WMD.

This has already been traced an "opp-researcher" to the DNC to the Kerry Campaign to CBS.

GEORGE, you're next. Sorry, but this sorry piece of "journalist" has got to go down like Dan Rather. Another Democrat plant 'acting' as a journalist.

If this is true:

(1) Kerry is to stupid to be President. If he could be sucker punched this bad I don't want him going head-to-head with terrorist and tyrants.

(2) Rove should be fired as Bush's campaign manager and immediately rehired as Director of the CIA. That kind of effective deviousness is hard to find.

Not surprised. Last night at dinner I told my wife, "tomorrow we will here that Bush sent CBS the fake docs".

If the Republicans set up the libs, I'd like to shake the hand of our "operative" who did it. This has made the partisan media look like the biggest fools ever, and I'm walking around with a grin on my face. And I'm skeptical that the docs are fakes!

The beauty of it is that this is completely diffusing the attacks on the President's TANG service.

Hell why stop with the Republicans. I bet it was the J-E-W-S. I bet Israel did this to prevent John Kerry from becoming President because he would bring peace to the Middle East!! </sarcasm>

I suppose the republicans also forced you to not vet the story & made you rush it to the presses with enthusiasm in diametric contrast to that you displayed on the SBV story. Idiots.

"Joe Lockhart of the Kerry campaign denies that the Kerry campaign had anything to do with these documents."

And even though Joe made a living lying for Bill Clinton he would never lie to us about this. Nope, not possible, he'd never do it, nope not Joe.

See, it's already losing it's legs. Just another piece of journalistic fraud by 60 Minutes, happens all the time, must have been planted by the GOP, yep, time to move on.

Really, people need to work on their long term memory. This crap happens all the time, the methods of keeping them from being long running stories are the same, tried tested and effective. Right it off as a mistake, wonder why some evil person would hoax a news organization, back to the latest celebrity trial.

If Kerry can be so easily duped by Karl Rove, how well is he equipped to deal with North Korea, Iraq, Iran, China, or Sandy Berger for that matter?

Talk about making a story up to fit your plans? Sheesh! Good thing nobody brought Kerry some Yellow Cake story out of the dumpster or something?

Yeah, just like the set-up of the Bush debate-rehersal tape that was sent to the dems in 2000. That was such an amazing set-up that the democrat operative caught on videotape mailing the tape actually pleaded guilty to doing it.
