MSM relic Dan Rather is on his farewell tour and bloviated for a few segments about his 1968 Democratic National Convention scuffles in Chicago, his Deep Thoughts on Iraq, and, yes, the little "error" (too bad he doesn't read the Wall Street Journal editorial page..."kerfuffle" would have really come in handy) that we have all come to know and love as Rathergate/Memogate/The Bogus Documents...

Forgive me if this has already been addressed, but the most basic and common sense indicator that these documents are a fraud is that the subject title of one of the memos is “CYA”……? If you were really trying to CYA, would you create a document titled CYA? It makes no sense. I don’t know of an officer in any branch of the Armed Service that would do something this stupid, yet I haven’t heard this basic fact mentioned. Opinions please.

I have never done a vanity post before, but right now, my blood is boiling over these faked documents. While most people are concentrating on Dan Rather and 60 Minutes, and rightfully so, Senator Tom Harkin must be placed in the spotlight as well, after the statements he made yesterday, when he called President Bush a liar, based upon those fraudulent pieces of paper. Republicans are filled with glee, as Democrats fall all over themselves, trying to diminish the fact that Bill Clinton's former national security adviser, Sandy Berger, was caught stuffing classified documents and national secrets down his drawers, in his jacket, in his socks, and in a leather portfolio, in order to steal them from the National Archives, and to later destroy some of them. (Berger returned some documents, but only after he was caught, but had "accidentally" destroyed the most important ones.) Note that Berger reportedly burgled the Archives on five separate occasions.
