Republican lawmakers demand answers from the Pentagon after military service members complained that they have not received enough absentee ballots to vote before Election Day. GOP Reps. Brian Mast (R-FL), Bill Huizenga (R-MI), and Mike Waltz (R-FL) sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin citing their “grave concern over deficiencies in the Defense Department’s protocols” for the U.S. military because they said the absentee ballot stockpile has been “depleted and had not been replenished.” “Our nation’s brave men and women in uniform brought to our attention that there has been inadequate education at the administrative level on how...

HAPPENING NOW: Voters are waiting 6 *hours* in line to vote in Levittown, PA, a Republican stronghold, because of apparent staffing issues. Voters who were interviewed say they can't come back on Tuesday due to work. The development comes after early voting was extended until today at 5PM. Scott Presler is also reporting issues in Quakertown where Trump supporters are being forced to wait hours to vote. "Bucks County elections officials did the bare minimum to comply with court’s order to provide voting access through 5PM today," Trump campaign's James Blair said. "They staffed some offices with just 1 or...

A group of Michigan voters are suing President Donald Trump and the Trump presidential campaign, accusing them of "openly seeking to disenfranchise Black voters" through their legal challenges to the presidential election, according to Politico. The lawsuit was filed on Friday in the US District Court for the District of Columbia, alleging that the Trump campaign seeks to suppress hundreds of thousands of votes. Trump has inserted himself into Michigan's election certification process, calling on a GOP canvasser in Wayne County and inviting top GOP officials to the White House on Friday to discuss the election.

The House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday night began the "markup" process for the two articles of impeachment against President Trump that they have settled on, barreling toward a final floor vote even as moderate Democrats have floated the idea of backing down in favor of a censure resolution. Almost immediately, the evening proceedings broke out into fiery disagreement, as the panel's top Democrat declared that it would be unsafe to wait until the 2020 election to remove Trump, while the ranking Republican slammed Democrats for attacking Ukraine's leader because he undercut their case against Trump. "We cannot rely on an...

The Anthony trial of 1873 helped answer the important question of whether women as "citizens" under the recently adopted Fourteenth Amendment were entitled, as one of the "privileges and immunities" that came with citizenship, to vote. The answer given by prim and conservative Justice Ward Hunt will surprise few, but the trial also shows Hunt with his hands full, not quite knowing how to shut up his feisty defendant. Read now about what "Aunt Susan" described in her diary as "the greatest outrage in judicial history!"

Cruz's resounding win in Colorado's GOP contest this weekend provided fresh evidence that Trump's campaign is still scrambling to catch up in the delegate hunt. But the Trump campaign's threat that they might challenge the Colorado results at the Republican National Convention showed something else: Their campaign is gearing up for battle in Cleveland -- and no error will go unnoticed. The debate over the national delegate selection in Colorado this weekend qualified as the very definition of inside baseball............. ... But it is alledged that it might be employed in such a manner as to promote the election of some favourite class of men in exclusion of others; by confining the places of election to particular districts, and rendering it impracticable to the citizens at large to partake in the choice. Of all chimerical suppositions, this seems to be the most chimerical. On the one hand no rational calculation of probabilities would lead us to imagine, that the disposition, which a conduct so violent and extraordinary would imply, could ever find its way into the national councils; and on...

A group of conservative activists huddled behind closed doors Thursday at a Washington hotel to plot strategy to stop Republican front-runner Donald Trump , including calling for a unity ticket to oppose him and a floor fight at the GOP convention to deny him the nomination. The meeting was led by conservative talk radio host Erick Erickson, a longtime outspoken critic of Mr. Trump . “We believe that the issue of Donald Trump is greater than an issue of party. It is an issue of morals and character that all Americans, not just those of us in the conservative movement,...

"No matter how deeply involved you are in the U.S. … there’s only one guarantee ... and that's the state of Israel" In the April issue of The Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg reports on a remarkable incident last fall at the residence of Vice President Joseph Biden. Speaking before guests—including leaders of Jewish organizations and Jewish officials in the Obama administration—invited to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, Biden recalled meeting Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir when he was a young man in the Senate: “I’ll never forget talking to her in her office with her assistant—a guy named Rabin—about the Six-Day War,” he...

At a time when election officials are struggling to convince more Americans to vote, advocates for the disabled say thousands of people with autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy and other intellectual or developmental disabilities have been systematically denied that basic right in the nation’s largest county. A Voting Rights Act complaint to be filed Thursday with the U.S. Justice Department goes to a politically delicate subject that states have grappled with over the years: Where is the line to disqualify someone from the voting booth because of a cognitive or developmental impairment? The complaint by the Disability and Abuse Project...

The door opened Monday for tens of thousands of nonviolent felons in Virginia to regain the right to vote, with state officials outlining steps each will have to take to recapture their basic civil rights. Gov. Bob McDonnell has said up to 100,000 disenfranchised felons ultimately could be added to the voter rolls, serve on a jury or hold political office.“For past offenders, our goal is to grant civil rights back to as many as possible,” McDonnell said in a statement. “This is the right thing to do for all Virginians to help make the commonwealth a safer and better...

[Madison, Wisc...] At least 30 Wisconsin municipalities failed to send absentee ballots to military voters before the 45 day deadline, according to former U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Anthony Principi, and he's demanding the Government Accountability Board address the problem immediately. As reported by the website WisPolitics.com, Principi sent a letter to the GAB on Monday pointing out the failure to meet the 45 day deadline is in violation of Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voter Act. "This violation is particularly unsettling in light of the fact that, only six months ago, a federal court entered a consent decree against...

FREDERICKSBURG — A 92 percent drop in absentee-ballot requests by military personnel in Virginia is raising concerns that the Pentagon is failing to carry out a federal voting law. With only 1,746 military voters in Virginia requesting absentee ballots so far this year — out of 126,251 service members in the state —the Military Voter Protection Project says the system has broken down And it’s not just in the Old Dominion. MVPP Executive Director Eric Eversole reports significant declines in absentee-ballot requests by service members across the nation.

New voting laws in 23 of the 50 states could keep more than 10 million Hispanic U.S. citizens from registering and voting, a new study said on Sunday, a number so large it could affect the outcome of the November 6 election. The Latino community accounts for more than 10 percent of eligible voters nationally. But the share in some states is high enough that keeping Hispanic voters away from the polls could shift some hard-fought states from support for Democratic President Barack Obama and help his Republican rival, Mitt Romney. >>SNIP<< That imposes onerous and sometimes expensive documentation requirements...

The Obama administration is widely regarded as the most lawless in U.S. history. This much you already know. Not enough votes to pass Obamacare? Bribe senators. Don’t like the Defense of Marriage law? Refuse to defend it in court. Congress won’t pass the “Dream Act” granting amnesty to a million illegals? Do it yourself by executive fiat. Don’t want to defend America’s borders? Sue states that do. Don’t like congressional inquiries? Ignore their subpoenas. Obama’s violations are so blatant and manifold that nine states have joined together to sue the federal government for its rampant lawlessness. So, now comes election...

President Barack Obama, along with many Democrats, likes to say that, while they may disagree with the GOP on many issues related to national security, they absolutely share their admiration and dedication to members of our armed forces. Obama, in particular, enjoys being seen visiting troops and having photos taken with members of our military. So, why is his campaign and the Democrat party suing to restrict their ability to vote in the upcoming election? On July 17th, the Obama for America Campaign, the Democratic National Committee and the Ohio Democratic Party filed suit in OH to strike down part...

In a five-page order yesterday, Judge Gibney of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, wrote: The Court finds that there is a strong likelihood that the Court will find the residency requirement for petition circulators to be unconstitutional. (...) If absentee ballots are printed, and particularly if they are mailed, it will impair the Court's ability to enter an order granting relief to the plaintiffs. They are presidential candidates and will have no chance to secure the delegates from Virginia at the Republican convention. The harm to them would obviously be irreparable. (...) The defendants point...

I put some effort into compiling this data and hope it may help prove, with hard data, that the Nevada "election" was not a one-legal-citizen, one-vote affair. I believe the Angle campaign has a case based on a comparison of the accuracy of polling of other races with that of their own, where the result was well outside the MOE of an aggregate of polls. Off one pull fine. Off seven by a wide margin, not kosher. The first data points (EXHIBIT A) are from a sampling of races and the poll aggregates leading up to election day. The second...

It seems that there are several instances of military ballots not being sent on time. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE in America. WE all rermember judges keeping the polls open in St. Louis and New Jersey in the past, because lawyers went before them claiming some couldn't vote. It is time to do that here. The purpose of this thread is for knowledgeable FReepers to tell us what steps must be taken to get the judiciary to extend these elections until all military ballots have been able to be counted. If we lose control of the vote, we lose control of the...
