Triplett was the subject of a book titled 'In a Different Key,' a PBS documentary film, BBC news magazine installment and countless medical journal articles. But to employees at the Bank of Forest, in a small city about 40 miles east of Jackson, he was simply 'Don,' WLBT-TV reported. An Ohio prison inmate has been diagnosed with leprosy, but health officials aren't concerned the infection will spread.

Rep. Joe Wilson's wife Roxanne has been diagnosed with swine flu, the congressman's office confirmed to CNN on Thursday. The South Carolina Republican who gained instant notoriety in September for shouting "You lie!" at the president told The Hill newspaper on Thursday that he plans to keep his distance from his wife when he returns home this weekend. Wilson said he plans to get the H1N1 vaccination soon, but only after "the majority of the American people" receive it.

Former GOP vice presidential nominee Jack Kemp, 73, has been diagnosed with cancer. According to a statement from his consulting firm, Kemp Partners, doctors are still testing Kemp before determining a course of treatment. “Mr. Kemp and his family are grateful for the thoughts and prayers of friends and appreciate respect for their privacy at this time,” read a statement from his spokeswoman Bona Park. Longtime KTLA Channel 5 anchor Hal Fishman has been diagnosed with colon cancer, which has spread to his liver, the station said Friday. Fishman was hospitalized after collapsing at his home on Wednesday, the station announced during its Thursday 10 p.m. newscast. Doctors discovered the cancer while treating him for an infection, said Rich Goldner, KTLA's interim news director. "Hal is awake and thanks everyone for their well wishes, and says he's going to fight this illness," Goldner said. "He is looking forward to coming back when he gets better."
