Washington, Aug 3. (PTI): David Mulford, former US Treasury Undersecretary for International Affairs and a prominent investment banker, is "a lead candidate" for Ambassador to India, media reports said today. Mulford, the international Chairman of Credit Suisse First Boston, was Undersecretary during the presidency of George Bush senior, the Wall Street Journal reported. Mulford "has been a London-based deal-maker and financial adviser to Saudi Arabia," the paper noted, referring to his stint as chief investment adviser to the Saudi Arabia Monetary Fund before serving Bush senior's administration between 1989 and 1992.
