Bill Maher accused Vice-President Cheney of being responsible for people "dying needlessly." In its own way, today's Boston Globe editorial cartoon takes that calumny one step further, suggesting that the vice-president flatly welcomes as many American deaths in Iraq as possible as a sign of national strength. But Dan Wasserman's cartoon does show workers being hung by the hands on rising corporate profits. This was the Globe's subtle way of commenting on news it reported yesterday that wages aren't rising as fast as profits. Is this really the view of Dan Wasserman and by extension the paper he works for - the Boston Globe? Do Wasserman and the Globe really believe that, in his heart, President George W. Bush is a torture-master of medieval proportions? Do they truly think that only international agreements and court decisions stand between him and the barbarous flaying of prisoners? by Mark Finkelstein June 11, 2006 The Boston Globe's cartoon, by staffer Dan Wasserman, on the editorial page of the paper's June 11th edition, took the condemnation of Ann Coulter to new depths, suggesting that her criticism of the 'Jersey Girls'- the 9/11 widows turned harsh Bush administration critics - is equivalent to the desecration of the graves of the 9/11 victims themselves. Wasserman also swipes at what he perceives to be Coulter's brand of Christianity. If anyone has urged a muscular response to those responsible for the deaths of the 9/11 victims, it has been Ann Coulter. Wonder how...
