A popular grocery chain in New York State is closing several stores and laying off more than 500 employees. It's not a great sign, especially before the holidays, that so many retailers are shuttering locations in New York State. Rite Aid and CVS stores will be closing in New York by the end of this year or next year. Two TJ Maxx and Marshal's stores will be closing. Now this. Shop-Rite Supermarkets Inc., the parent company for Shop-Rite stores has filed with the New York State Department of Labor. The company said in its filing that 567 employees will be...

A CVS pharmacy in Washington DC has been forced to replace almost all its stock with photographs in an attempt to combat rampant shoplifting. Framed images of items such as toilet paper and kitchen towels stand in place of the real thing, according to pictures shared to X, while customers have to press a button to request staff fetch the products from storage. 'This is how we live in America now?' questioned conservative commentator Joey Mannarino, who shared the images. 'This is the third world!' The pharmacy's dystopian move comes just weeks after a CVS store in DC was ransacked...

A CVS worker accused of stabbing a serial shoplifter during a fight inside a Midtown store no longer faces murder charges over the slaying, it was revealed in court Monday. Scotty Enoe, 46, was indicted on the lesser rap of manslaughter in the July 6 death of 50-year-old homeless man Charles Brito at a CVS at Broadway and West 49th Street. Enoe — who pleaded not guilty at his Manhattan Supreme Court arraignment Monday — told cops he only acted in self-defense after he was pummeled by Brito without provocation, according to new court documents. “Obviously, we’re pleased about that,”...

LAS VEGAS (LifeSiteNews) – Two CVS pharmacists had their licenses suspended for accidentally giving a customer abortion drugs instead of in vitro fertilization (IVF) medication, but the woman who lost two preborn children as a result says their apologies “will never be good enough.” Las Vegas CBS affiliate 8 News Now reported that in 2019 mother of four Timika Thomas decided to try for a fifth child and turned to IVF due to a medical history that included two ectopic pregnancies and tubal ligation. Eventually, her doctor prescribed a vaginal suppository meant to stimulate production of pregnancy hormones, which was...

Nope, nothing to see here, folks, everything's fine, there's no crime wave or anything like that, and this is the best economy in the history of economies. Stories like this are just made up by conspiracy theorists Republicans to make Joe Biden look bad. LOOK AT THOSE SHELVES! Seriously though, my liberal friends actually think this is fine and perfectly normal. I don't know what they're on, but it worries me. Meanwhile, not only do we have empty shelves at this CVS in DC because thieves keep showing up when the delivery truck arrives, but we've got street vendors nearby...

A group of roughly 45 kids routinely ransack a CVS in Washington, D.C., with many thieves taking the food and beverages and stomping on them, according to a Fox 5 report. "When you walk into this CVS, you'd think the store is closing because there's barely anything on the shelves," Fox 5 reporter Sierra Fox said of a CVS in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of D.C. "In fact, the only items in stock are the ones that are locked up. I did ask an employee what gets stolen the most, and they just laughed and said ‘everything.’" "A big group...

"It makes me not want to shop there to be honest. I just go in there and get my prescription and then when I need other things, I go elsewhere because there’s nothing there to get," said Ilana Miller, CVS Customer. According to staff who work there, 45 or more kids are regularly going in to steal chips and drinks before school, after school, and late at night. CVS employees have been alerted that thieves are aware of when new shipments come in and that's when they target the store. They also say that street venders are allegedly paying people...

It's no secret that U.S. drugstore landscape has been consolidating at a jarring pace now that the pandemic has passed. Rite Aid (RAD) - has been reportedly toying with the possibility of filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy and liquidating many of its stores. It currently has some $3.3 billion in debt. The proposed deal would permanently shutter 400 to 500 of the chain's current 2,100 stores and hand them over to creditors or other interested buyers. With the the pandemic now firmly behind us and brick-and-mortar retail at a crawling recovery pace compared with more robust corners of the market, drugstores...

When I learned that an alleged shoplifter was stabbed to death Thursday by a drugstore clerk in Times Square, I was surprised only that the killing had happened at the CVS at Broadway and 49th Street, not at the Duane Reade at Broadway and 50th Street. Over more than three years, since New York’s criminal-justice “reforms” collided with pandemic dislocations, this stretch of Broadway and the surrounding blocks and subway stations have become a magnet for disorder and danger. That a nearby resident—me—must weigh up the relative dangers of shopping at or even walking by one store rather than the...

There may finally be a backlash brewing in New York City against the woke, soft-on-crime policies that have been put in place, even among Democrats. We’re not talking about the rank-and-file residents of the city, who have long been fed up with the crime wave. The current pushback is coming from both parties on the City Council and it’s being directed at the infamous Soros-backed DA Alvin Bragg. The unrest began after 46-year-old CVS clerk Scotty Enoe stabbed serial looter Charles Brito when the two got into an altercation over Brito’s latest attempt at looting the store. Brito died from...

EXCLUSIVE: CVS Health's "gender transition guidelines" for employees requires workers to address people by their preferred pronouns and names and that they may use whichever restroom or locker room they wish regardless of whether the individual identifies as transgender. In the guidelines obtained exclusively by FOX Business, employees are told they may be entitled to a medical leave of absence "under the Family and Medical Leave Act, state law, and/or CVS Health policy." Transitioning employees are asked to tell their immediate leaders about their transition so the company "can provide support and to make your transition as smooth as possible."...

CVS Health Corp. and Walmart Inc. are cutting pharmacy hours in the midst of a pharmacist shortage that has plagued the nation’s biggest drugstore chains throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. CVS, the largest U.S. drugstore chain by revenue, plans in March to cut or shift hours at about two-thirds of its roughly 9,000 U.S. locations. Walmart plans to reduce pharmacy hours by closing at 7 p.m. instead of 9 p.m. at most of its roughly 4,600 stores by March. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. previously said it was operating thousands of stores on reduced hours because of staffing shortages. Combined, the three...

Store closures have become an all-too-common occurrence since the pandemic started. Even major retail chains like Walmart and Bed Bath & Beyond have had to shutter several stores across the U.S. over the past three years, though some cuts have been much more dramatic than others. At the same time, two of the biggest pharmacy chains in the country have also been closing locations this year. Walgreens and CVS have faced several temporary and permanent pharmacy shutdowns this year, and more locations are closing their doors. Read on to find out why these two drugstores are cutting back on pharmacy...

From more cases of heat-related illnesses to increases in tick-borne diseases, family physician Paul Friedrichs has seen the impacts of climate change on the health of his patients. He understands all too well that climate change is a health issue. “Environment is so critical to our health,” he says. “Our environment determines a majority of our health conditions: Infectious diseases, toxins, radiation in the environment, the food we have access to, allergens — just so much of human health is related to where we try to live.” Consider this summer’s record-breaking temperatures (with July 2022 registering the third-hottest July on...

The US drugstore chain CVS said on Monday that it had temporarily limited purchases of the morning-after pill to three boxes per transaction, in order to avoid a shortage following a recent US Supreme Court verdict that revoked the constitutional right to abortion. In a statement, the company said it had "ample supply" of Plan B and Aftera, two products intended to be taken by women to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or if a birth control method fails. The drugs -- commonly known as morning-after pills -- are distinct from abortion drugs, which terminate pregnancies. The move comes after...

ORLANDO, Fla. (WESH)— Two people have been arrested for the death of a grandfather who deputies say was killed outside a CVS. Javonne Marece White, 19, and Jasmine Yvonne Munro, 25, are facing charges of felony first-degree murder and carjacking. Deputies say 78-year-old Uken Cummings was gunned down in broad daylight Sunday, Jan. 30, in the CVS parking lot on Silver Star Road after picking up his medication. They say Cummings was returning to his car when he was confronted by two suspects who shot him and stole his car. The suspects are accused of also running over Cummings before...

Presented by CVS Health Good Thursday morning. Press like — Gov. Ron DeSantis, more than three months ago, directed Secretary of State Laurel Lee to launch an investigation into a Facebook program that could have given incumbent politicians “an advantage over challengers” — a charge first outlined in a September article on the social media giant by The Wall Street Journal. Update — So how’s that going? … well… um… Status quo — It would appear there is nothing going on with this probe. Pressed repeatedly for answers, Mark Ard, a spokesman for Lee, said this week in an email...
