An activist group accusing former President Trump, Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and evangelist Franklin Graham of "inciting the attack on the U.S. Capitol" is urging board members of the two ministries Graham leads to fire him. Board members of Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association – for which Graham serves as president and CEO – are the targets of a petition drive by the group, Faithful America. Faithful America is described by D. James Kennedy Ministries as "a left-wing group" founded by the National Council of Churches and funded in the past by George...

“The National Council of Churches makes a rare statement to Oppose Kavanaugh.” So read the headline accompanying the lead story a fortnight ago in the The Washington Post’s “Acts of Faith” section. The WaPo hailed the NCC – the (fake) religious arm of the Democrat Party – for its denunciation of President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee (and, by extension, President Trump himself). And the paper misleadingly suggested that the NCC’s statement represented the prevailing sentiment of the “more than 30 million U.S. parishioners” the Protestant organization purportedly represents. But the NCC hardly speaks for the more than 30 million parishioners....

Dr. Howard Dean’s fans come out for the big Democratic summer shindig As Tom Andrews, the director of the leading national antiwar coalition, began his speech at the Maine Democrats’ big outdoor summer shindig in Falmouth, John Baldacci signaled his bodyguard/driver to move the large, dark SUV up the driveway. The vehicle soon hid in the trees, its engine quietly humming. At first, the governor seemed to be paying attention as Andrews, the former First District congressman, launched into rousing tales of how the country, under President George W. Bush, had gone "from peace and prosperity to war and recession."...

The National Council of Churches (NCC) suffered a stinging rebuke last month when the North American Archdiocese of the Antiochian Orthodox Church decided to sever all ties to the organization. “It got to be too much,” said Antiochian spokesman Rev. Thomas Zain. “They have an almost politicized agenda…that opposes conservative Christianity.” Zain was being generous. The NCC plays a duplicitous game. Its public statements are laced with the language of Christian benevolence but its policies read like a laundry list of hard-Left causes. It’s a pattern that took a while for the Orthodox to see. Disguising a Marxist past NCC...

A national religious group representing 36 Protestant and Orthodox denominations said Tuesday that U.S. foreign policy is "dangerous" and urged President Bush to turn over authority in Iraq to the United Nations. The National Council of Churches (search), which has been highly critical of the war, acknowledged that Christians disagree on the issue, but said that giving control to the U.N. was the only way to create "lasting peace."

Groups call for tax hike on top earners To help preserve human service programs in next year's state budget, a broad coalition called upon lawmakers Monday to embrace legislation that would increase state income taxes collected from the most wealthy Californians. In a Capitol press conference with more than 100 in attendance including union representatives and advocates for the poor participants stood behind a controversial proposal by Senate President Pro Tem John Burton of San Francisco that would temporarily increase personal income taxes on the top 2 percent of California wage earners. Aimed at partially bridging the state's $23.6...
