A state trooper has been placed on administrative leave and is now the subject of an internal investigation, the agency confirmed yesterday. Trooper Leigha Genduso was placed on paid administrative leave Monday, according to state police spokesman David Procopio. Genduso earned $151,000 last year, records show. She will face a departmental duty status hearing in the next few days, he added. State police have also launched an Internal Affairs investigation and its conclusions will determine what further action, if any, will be taken against Genduso, Procopio said. He would not say why she was placed on leave, adding that state...

A small Wisconsin town's chief of police, who admitted to investigators that he harassed a tea party protester by signing him up for online dating, porn and other accounts, is now under criminal investigation and suspended from his job. Tim Keleman, chief of police in the Town of Campbell, near LaCrosse, told the investigators that he just wanted to get back at the man he said was causing much distraction and hassle for the town by suing over the town's ban on signs and banners from a pedestrian bridge where the tea party wanted to send its message. Greg Luce,...

The lead Sanford police investigator in the Trayvon Martin shooting was transferred Tuesday from detective work to being a simple street cop, the department confirmed. Chris Serino had asked for the change, the department said. He will become a uniform patrol officer and work the night shift, said police spokesman Sgt. David Morgenstern. Serino is not being demoted, Morgenstern said, and his rate of pay is unaffected.

A Michigan police department has made it clear that freedom of speech and the Constitutional right to peaceably assemble may only be enjoyed upon approval by the terror-promoting, Islamic group CAIR. On January 26th, Michigan State Representative David Agema and others hosted an event entitled “Constituting Michigan—Founding Principles Act” in the Allegan High School auditorium. The purpose of the event was “…to inform the public about the importance of honoring the United States Constitution, to recognize the internal threat to America posed by radical Muslims and the dangers to our free society caused by the imposition of Sharia law.” (1)...
  • Deputy confiscates woman's cell phone (cop says he feared camera phone was a "cell phone gun")

When a deputy sheriff began questioning Melissa Greenfield's boyfriend at a Delaware County truck stop, she began recording video with her cell phone. She never thought that she, or her phone, could be viewed as a danger while she documented the activities of public employees in a public place. Sgt. Jonathan Burke wrote that he repeatedly ordered Greenfield to place the "unknown" object in her pocket and keep her hands free. When Greenfield refused, she was arrested and charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Burke wrote in his report that he feared that Greenfield could have been holding...

The day began with a shooting competition in Connecticut. By afternoon, the Boston police officers were drinking beer and margaritas in a nearby parking lot. By the end of the night, they had stopped at two bars, where they downed tequila shots and more beer. Soon afterward, the three officers, two men and a young woman only a couple of years out of the academy, went back to a hotel near Farmington, where they all agreed to share a room. As the woman collapsed into bed, she said she felt someone crawl in next to her. It was one of...
