Palestinian Daily: Condi Rice is "The Woman of Steel" Is it Time for Bush to Consider Picking a New Veep? In the past week, Condoleezza Rice has been subjected to very unusual attacks in the national media. Some pundits have reported she may even be forced out by President George W. Bush because of the flap arising from his use of those "16 little words" in his State of the Union Speech. U.S. News reported on July 28th that some advisors are urging that she be allowed to resign. Of course, that Washington insider report waffled and made it clear...

Condoleezza Rice, President Bush's national security advisor, talks to reporters in the 8th floor board room of The Washington Post on July 16. Iraq flap shakes Rice’s image Controversy stirs questions of reports unread, statements contradicted By Dana Milbank and Mike AllenTHE WASHINGTON POST WASHINGTON, July 27 — Just weeks ago, Condoleezza Rice, President Bush’s national security adviser, made a trip to the Middle East that was widely seen as advancing the peace process. There was speculation that she would be a likely choice for secretary of state, and hopes among Republicans that she could become governor...

As White House officials try to cotrol the latest fallout over President Bush's flawed suggestion in the State of the Union Address that Iraq was buying nuclear bomb materials, there's growing talk by insiders that National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice may resign. For most insiders it's inconceivable that Dr. Rice, touted as Future Secretary of State, California Governor, and even Vice President, would go, but the latest relevations that her shop and deputy Stephen Hadley mishandled Central Intelligence Agency warnings have put the National Security Council in the bulls eye of controversy. While its unclear how serious the talk is inside the...

President Bush's 2003 State of the Union Address included the following line: "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa." Name for me what part of that sentence is wrong or "a lie." None of it. Clifford May's National Review piece is a must-read on this topic. The British government has other intelligence - separate from those Niger documents which the French apparently forged to hurt our effort to liberate Iraq - to prove Saddam tried to purchase so-called yellowcake uranium ore from Africa. Note the president said "Africa," not "Niger." Now...

My, my, there's a lot of cackling going on about whether or not Saddam was shopping for uranium in Africa. Let's try to put it in perspective. During the Carter administration, world prices for uranium tripled, although it would be churlish to blame Jimmy himself for this phenomenon. One of the biggest benefactors of the price rise however, was the country of Niger, an African nation three- quarters the size of Texas, but with more sand, and, to the point, more uranium. By 1979, Niger's government revenues from uranium mines were on the order of $200 million, and the...

In the latest Bush administration damage control over the President’s State of the Union reference to Saddam Hussein’s nuclear aspirations, national security adviser Condoleezza Rice told Fox News’ Tony Snow Sunday: “It is ludicrous to suggest that the president of the United States went to war on the question of whether Saddam Hussein sought uranium from Africa. This was a part of a very broad case that the president laid out in the State of the Union and other places.” In the speech, Bush said, “The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from...

Bush: CIA OK'd Iraq Speech (Photo: CBS/AP) "If the CIA — the director of central intelligence — had said 'Take this out of the speech,' it would have been gone."Condoleezza Rice, national security adviser President Bush delivering State of the Union address in January. (Photo: CBS) WASHINGTON, July 11, 2003 What CIA analysts said and when they said it were matters of dispute Friday as the Bush administration denied that it made an allegation against Iraq against the intelligence agency's advice. Senior administration officials told CBS News that the president's State of the Union speech claimed that Iraq had tried to...

ENTEBBE, Uganda (AP) — President Bush's national security adviser said Friday the CIA cleared Bush's State of the Union speech in its entirety, including a sentence alleging that Iraq was seeking to buy nuclear material from Africa. If CIA Director George Tenet had any misgivings about that sentence in the president's speech, "he did not make them known" to Bush or his staff, said national security adviser Condoleezza Rice. Her comments to reporters aboard Air Force One came as the administration presented a full-press defense of Bush's use of that allegation against Saddam Hussein, which the White House subsequently acknowledged was...

European media began this week to speculate about the next campaign for the US presidency... reported on the possibility of Condolezza Rice reincarnating as a vice presidential candidate in 2004. European reporters considered this a potentially brilliant political move, which, in their opinion, could easily carry President Bush to re-election. According to European observers, Rice is the quintessential product of the American Dream, and of the African-American civil rights movement. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, during segregationist times to a Presbyterian pastor, she was raised with the belief that if one stays in school, works hard, and trusts in God one...

How can President Bush ensure a re-election victory next year when his opponent may be New York's Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton?

One answer is to make a switch in executive positions early next year. The 2004 Republican convention could nominate National Security Adviser Condoleeza Rice, 49,for vice president and President Bush, 57, appoints Vice President Richard Cheney, 62, to succeed her as national security adviser.

For Immediate ReleaseOffice of the Press SecretaryJune 26, 2003 Remarks by Dr. Condoleezza Rice International Institute for Strategic StudiesLondon, United Kingdom This is a wonderful opportunity to speak to such a distinguished group of thinkers -- and to be able to do so on the soil of one of America's oldest and truest allies is a special honor. I feel a personal affinity for the International Institute for Strategic Studies, because -- like the Institute -- I got my start studying strategic weapons and arcane terminology like "throw weights" and "MIRVs". And, like you, I've subsequently branched out into...

Is it acceptable for country, the US fighting terrorism, to smile to a terrorist leader who: 1. Denies the Holocaust 2. Took part in terrorist activities such as planning the 1972 Munich Olympics Massacre 3. Co-founded with Arafat the PLO which has been reponsible for thousands of Israeli deaths and over 60 American deaths 4. Supports the destruction of our friend Israel 5. Heads the PA who oversees the PA-controlled media which made racist comments about Rice just a few days ago 6. During the Oslo Accords that failed, he was deputy of Arafat all along 7. Met with the...

A friend said, after meeting Stephen Harper recently, that she was surprised to find he was "deeply sexy," though not charismatic, then, warming to a favourite theme, that we had to immediately stop this indecent craving for charisma in our leaders. I'd go further. Charisma should mean immediate disqualification. Otherwise, two words: Hillary Clinton. The suspicious amongst us have been ploughing through Living History, her flatulent self-aggrandizing piece-o-crap, albeit best-selling, account of her ghastly life and let me refresh. Two years into the Clinton presidency, we had learned the following: Bill's brother had been jailed for dealing coke, and tapes...

A Palestinian daily newspaper has published an article referring to U.S. National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice as a "black spinster," claiming discretion for not using the term "black widow," reports Palestinian Media Watch. Sunday's edition of Al Ayyam also referred to Rice as the "black woman" three times and described her father as the "black clergyman." Treatment of Secretary of State Colin Powell was a bit more generous in the article. The writer refers to him as the "black man," the "black gentleman" and the "brave and moderate black." "Dr. Condoleezza Rice is the most influential national security adviser in...
