As White House officials try to cotrol the latest fallout over President Bush's flawed suggestion in the State of the Union Address that Iraq was buying nuclear bomb materials, there's growing talk by insiders that National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice may resign.
For most insiders it's inconceivable that Dr. Rice, touted as Future Secretary of State, California Governor, and even Vice President, would go, but the latest relevations that her shop and deputy Stephen Hadley mishandled Central Intelligence Agency warnings have put the National Security Council in the bulls eye of controversy.
While its unclear how serious the talk is inside the Administration about the future of Rice or Hadley with the NSC, a few top aides are already suggesting relacements for Rice.
They include former Bush Administration National Security Advisor Brent Scrowcroft, NASA Chief and Former Navy Secretary Sean O' Keefe, and Paul Bremmer, the US Administrator in Iraq.

Manufactured exit for CA. Governor purposes, or is Rove leaking Kemp to Drudge as a signal?

I thought NSC's Hadley was gone for sure, but Bush refused his resignation offer.

Too much of a gamble to give up Vice President or Secretary of State in a second Bush term to run against Jack Kemp.

Nope, Dr. Rice is a valued member of the Bush team...she will only go if she chooses to run against Barbara Boxer for the CA Senate seat!
To: Monti Cello
That is probably the offical DUmmie line.

I dont know even Secretary of State replacing Colin Powell who is sure to leave, may be better than fighting against Boxer in 2006.

I want to see Jesse Jackson come out and talk about what a racist crime it would be for the Bush Administration to push Condi out the door.

I don't know...a good battle between 2 Republican heavyweights for the next 80 days would definitely stir California up bigtime...it would sure sideline the Dems (maybe permanently).
Rove & Co. might think the biggest state in the Nation worth it.
To: what's up
I think Kemp would win in a walk without Ah-nold running.

Condi is a team player and is going NOWHERE. At minimum she will stay until GWBush gets re-elected and 90% sure she will be there in the second term too.

Love to see Ms. Rice leave the administration and run for governor of Calif.
Loads smarter and better the gray davis.
Would set her up to eventually be president also.
