A twelfth suspect has been charged and is being sought in the ambush on the night of July Fourth at the ICE Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas following the arrests of eleven other alleged Antifa members in the shooting attack that wounded an Alvarado police officer in the neck.

The FBI announced on Wednesday up to a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of former Marine Reservist Benjamin Song, 32, who has been charged with six counts related to the attack. Several of the rifles found at the scene of the ambush are allegedly tied to Song, who has a reported other than honorable discharge.

Reward:

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Benjamin Hanil Song.

Caution:

Benjamin Hanil Song is wanted for his alleged involvement in the July 4, 2025, attack on the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas. This location is a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Detention Facility. During this attack, an Alvarado Police Officer was shot and wounded. On July 9, 2025, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Song in the United States District Court, Northern District of Texas, Fort Worth, Texas, after he was charged with Attempted Murder of a Federal Officer and Discharging a Firearm During, in Relation to, and in Furtherance of a Crime of Violence.

Excerpt from KDFW-TV report:

Benjamin Hanil Song, 32, of Dallas, has six charges pending in relation to the ambush at the Prairieland Detention Center. Song is believed to have fired towards two correctional officers and one Alvarado Police Department officer.

His charges are listed in a criminal complaint document obtained by FOX 4 on Wednesday as three counts of attempted murder of a federal officer and three of discharging a firearm during, in relation to, and in furtherance of a crime of violence.

While others in the group of 10-12 lured officers out of the facility, the document says Song was positioned in nearby woods with two rifles, from where he and at least one other suspect opened fire on the law enforcement agents.

The document says both rifles found afterward in the woods were found to have been purchased by Song. One of the rifles was allegedly fitted with a binary trigger, which is used to double the rate of fire of a semi-automatic gun. The document implies that the device was likely an aftermarket modification.

Since the July 4 attack, Song has possibly been seen once on a DFW Airport camera on Sunday. The document says he is believed to have spent the night following the attack hiding in the woods near the facility.

The document notes that Song served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 2011 to 2016, at which point he received an other than honorable discharge.

The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a Blue Alert to the public Wednesday evening for Song:

The U.S. Department of Justice on Blue Alerts:

The National Blue Alert Network supports the use and integration of Blue Alert plans throughout the United States in order to rapidly disseminate information to law enforcement agencies, the media and the public to aid in the apprehension of violent criminals who have killed, or seriously injured an officer in the line of duty. Blue Alerts can also be issued when a suspect poses an imminent and credible threat to law enforcement, or when an officer is missing in the line of duty.

Blue Alerts can be transmitted to television and radio stations; to cellphones and wireless devices, to overhead highway message signs, and other secondary alerting mechanisms – in the same way that AMBER Alerts are commonly issued.

There are currently 37 states with Blue Alert plans. The COPS Office provides resources and technical assistance to states, territories, law enforcement agencies, and tribes seeking to establish or enhance Blue Alert plans; including, voluntary activation guidelines, examples of legislation, policies, and forms gathered from around the nation in a central Blue Alert data repository.

Congress passed the Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu National Blue Alert Act of 2015 in order to encourage, enhance, and integrate Blue Alert plans.

The law is named in honor of New York City Police Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu who were killed in an ambush attack on December 20, 2014.

Andy Ngo reported Song is being sued with other Antifa members over a 2023 attack on Christians.

I miss the wanted posters from the Old West which read “Wanted: Dead or Alive”. My favorite was the one that read, “Wanted: Dead or Alive
Reward: Dead $50,000, Alive $25,000”

Exactly. We have had discussions of this kind on this forum, and I agree wholly.

And I have served in the past with people who were not US citizens, and they were mostly fine, but...in today’s world, that kind of anecdote is irrelevant.

It’s a bit of a side point, but they should never tack on that “and conviction” part. If there’s enough to issue an arrest warrant, then pay off the guy who helped to bring him in.

Plus a trial (and a conviction) might be years away.

Again, we do need to make the distinction-I didn’t see where this person was a foreign national being given a path to citizenship by enlisting, so it probably doesn’t apply here.

But he did have a less than honorable discharge.

Back at Fort Sill in 73, I had a friend who was a Canadian who joined the Army to become a U.S. citizen. I remember when he met the time required. He was so happy that day he went down to be sworn in and receive his U.S. citizenship. He let everyone know he was now a U.S. citizen for month.

Sure, I had much the same kinds of positive experiences.

But you and I are both in agreement that enemies of this country see that as a vector to get people into the US Military and will absolutely work to exploit it.

True, though you'll probably get ignored. You're going against the prevalent tide here of jumping to conclusions.
