This Veterans Day, the House of Representatives has kept faith with America’s courageous defenders, overwhelmingly approving an historic $401 billion Defense Authorization bill for 2004. The House voted 362 to 40 for Congressman Duncan Hunter’s bill, reflecting broad, bi-partisan support for defense programs at a time when U.S. armed forces are engaged in battle in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere. Once again, the entire San Diego/Imperial County delegation, including Democrat Susan Davis, voted to support our service men and women—except Bob Filner.

Election 2004 Disabled vet vote in play for 2004 Democrats court the group after GOP leaders balk at expanding benefits for them. By SARA FRITZ Published September 27, 2003 WASHINGTON - As the 2004 election year approaches, Democrats are making a strong bid for the support of a traditional GOP constituency: disabled military veterans. Democrats in Congress seized an opportunity to appeal to veterans recently after the Bush administration indicated it does not support a proposed improvement in disability benefits. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has told members of Congress that he will ask President Bush to veto the measure if...

This article will be published 14 October 2002 (I think thats the date) in FORBES Magazine. The journalist rehashes the entire DoD line of lies, half truths, made up numbers.Three Retired Disabled Vets have replied to Mr. Carnahan and his editor Mr. Forbes about their shoddy reportingAs a side note the email server at Forbes crashed severely after this article was released. Duty, Honor, Pension Ira Carnahan, 10.14.02 Who can say no to the veterans lobbies? Certainly not Congress. Politicians are understandably eager to lavish money on the military these days. Not all of it is going into antiterrorism efforts....

Letter from LtCol Oliver North, USMC,Ret.Reprinted from TownHall.com July 26, 2002 It's about keeping promises WASHINGTON, D.C. -- It's been a lousy summer for President George W. Bush. Republican leaders are grousing that he isn't doing enough to keep GOP control of the House. Defense Secretary Don Rumsfeld has his arm in a cast, and the Pentagon press corps is beating him up because we can't find Osama's body. Diplomatic correspondents are howling that the president isn't tough enough on Israel. The business press blames him for the stock market collapse and for being soft on corporate crooks. And now...

An open letter to the President and by extension the Congress and Senate: Dear Mr. President: Retired Service Members, with disabilities rated by the VA, are not being paid the Retirement Money that this Country and DOD promised them.... You speak of integrity, honor, and duty to America. You speak of your faith in God.... You then tell me, and all Americans, that an obscure law from the 1890s prevents you from giving the very people responsible for freedom and democracy their expected money in retirement. Which is worst is beyond my comprehension, whether you as the Commander-in-Chief or you...

To all: The following is part of a online letter written by a combat veteran (Marine). I don't know the gentleman, but he has my eternal thanks and gratitude.I found this post on a Disabled Veteran chat board. He was answering a post from someone who called him a fat, whinning, loser for expressing his feelings on concurrent receipt.I didn't ask for his permission to reproduce the post. Most retired disabled vets I know feel the same as he does.I edited the parts out that where directed to the other person personally. Please, contact your Congressman, Senator and President Bush and support...

In the late 1800’s Congress passed a law that prohibits Retired Military member (20 or more years of service) who are disabled (proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to the doctors at the Veterans Administration) from collection their earned pension and disability compensation. All other Federal Employees are allowed to collect disability compensation and retirement pensions. Pensions are figured by length of service and highest rank obtained. Disability if determined by percentage of disability from 10-100%. There are approximately 550,000 thousand Retired Disabled Veterans. Thirteen point nine percent (13.9% ) are rated as severely disabled at 60-100%. About thirty...

Brooks W. Outland, Concurrent Receipt Leglislation September 3, 2002 The best way to get the word out to all of the military veterans in the country is via national television coverage. The first and most difficult task is to get the attention of the TV news broadcasters. If your story is not newsworthy, it rarely gets a second look! In the thirteen years I’ve been working on the concurrent receipt issue, I’ve seen only four national TV news segments (NBC) regarding that important issue! Tom Brokaw’s NBC Nightly News considers the issue newsworthy! I have written dozens of articles for...
