The U.S. Air Force Lost 12 Years Of Investigations Thanks To A Corrupted Computer File The U.S. Air Force Inspector General tracks all their investigations on fraud, abuse, and everything else down to office disputes in a database maintained by Lockheed Martin. Now it looks like somebody broke it, destroying data collected since 2004. Defense One and others are reporting that the USAF lost its records of 100,000 investigations in their Automated Case Tracking System due to some kind of file corruption that neither Lockheed Martin or the Air Force have been able to figure out. Apparently Lockheed Martin spent...

Remember how my computer would no longer play videos very well? Well, nothing worked, so I took it to the shop on Monday, and when I went back today even though it had been wiped and had new hardware installed it still wasn't working. Apparently it's kicked the bucket. G-d willing I will get another one some time next week and be back with you. It's been rough with no FR and no net for a solid week, though I suppose a little vacation from the Internet isn't a bad thing. I can't tell you exactly when I'll be back...

Hello all. Perhaps you've noticed I haven't been around much lately. Well, I wasn't in Japan when the quake hit, but my computer did crash early on the morning of 3/6 (over a week ago) and it's been in the shop since the next morning. This is the second crash in three months. When he got around to looking at it the repair guy said he couldn't find anything wrong with the software so it must be the hard drive. The hard drive came in yesterday morning and is installed but it still won't work. Now there are only two...

London Stock Exchange trading hit by computer crash By Jamie Dunkley Last Updated: 11:18am BST 08/09/2008 Trading on the London Stock Exchange has been halted after a computer system failed on one of the most frantic days of trading seen so far this year. No orders can be entered and no trade executions will occur, the exchange said on its website. The LSE plans to bring back trading in a “controlled way’’, but couldn't say how long that will take. The glitch comes at a time when the LSE is facing strong competition from several rivals and on a day...
  • Question (again): Is there some way to backup a computer before installing a program?

    09/11/2007 10:06:01 AM PDT · by Jedi Master Pikachu · 27 replies · 307+ views
Is there a way to 'backup' how a computer is prior to installing a program (AdAware in this case)? Last time went on a spyware installing binge, the computer got a blue screen. This computer has Windows XP, and apparently there is a feature to go to the last session(?) that worked. Thing is, when the computer got a blue screen, the last session option did not work. Is there something to do to initiate it?
