U.S. concerned salvo strategy could overwhelm missile defenses WASHINGTON — U.S. officials said Iran and North Korea are focusing on the use of sustained fire to overcome Israeli and US missile defense systems. The officials said the development of ballistic missile defense systems must protect against missile salvos. "An additional concern is North Korea's and Iran's repeated demonstrations of salvo launches, indicating large ballistic missile attack raid sizes must be considered in developing the BMDS [ballistic missile defense system]," U.S. Missile Defense Agency director Patrick O'Reilly said.
