Colgate-Palmolive announced Wednesday it is voluntarily recalling 4.9 million bottles of Fabuloso multipurpose cleaner over concerns about harmful bacteria. According to the company, a manufacturing error meant a preservative was not added "at the intended levels" to eradicate Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas fluorescens, bacteria that can cause serious infections in people with compromised immune systems and other preexisting health conditions. The recall impacts five varieties of scented Fabuloso manufactured between Dec. 14, 2022, and Jan. 23, 2023, including lemon, lavender and spring fresh. Some 3.9 million bottles -- about 80% -- were never released for sale to the public, Fabuloso...

MANILA, Philippines — Laboratory studies show that toothpastes containing zinc or stannous and mouthwash formulas with cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) neutralize the virus that causes COVID-19 by 99.9%. The studies are part of a Colgate research program that includes clinical studies among infected people to assess the efficacy of oral care products in reducing the amount of the virus in the mouth, potentially slowing the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. In the laboratory studies—the first to include toothpaste—Colgate Total and Meridol toothpastes neutralized 99.9% of the virus after two minutes of contact. Colgate Plax and Colgate Total mouthwashes were similarly effective...

SAN RAMON (CBS SF / CNN) — Chevron’s nearly century-long relationship with Venezuela might not survive the Maduro regime’s fight with the United States. Not only is Venezuela’s infrastructure crumbling, but the OPEC member’s national oil company has been sanctioned by the Trump administration. Chevron, based in San Ramon and the last major US oil company still operating in Venezuela, could be forced to leave unless US officials extend sanctions waivers scheduled to expire on July 27. A Chevron exit would follow on the heels of other major American companies that have retreated from the chaos in Venezuela in recent...

PORTLAND, Ore. (RNS) William Hamilton, the retired theologian who declared in the 1960s that God was dead, died Tuesday (Feb. 28) in his downtown Portland apartment. He was 87. Hamilton said he'd been haunted by questions about God since he was a teenager. Years later, when his conclusion was published in the April 8, 1966, edition of Time Magazine, he found himself at the center of a theological storm. Time christened the new movement "radical theology," and Hamilton, one of its key figures, received death threats and inspired angry letters to the editor. He lost his endowed chair as...

Hello Couponeers!Today we shall learn that you can NEVER stop learning about effective couponing. Just when you THINK you might know all there is to know about coupons, whole new previously undiscovered worlds can open up to you. And in the case of The Coupon Whisperer the world of PDS file coupons opened up for me last night. You see, I have been operating under the assumption that you can only print out only a couple of coupons of a particular type from the Web. In most cases that is true. However, as I learned last night there is a...

(NewsCore) - A legal dispute between the U.S. and India over a herbal toothpaste was leaving a bitter aftertaste between the two countries Thursday, with Colgate Palmolive accused of filing a bogus patent. Colgate, the world’s largest producer of toothpaste, patented a toothcleaning powder in the hope that it would take the multibillion-dollar Indian oral hygiene market by storm. However, Indian activists claim that the patent is bogus because the ingredients -- including clove oil, camphor, black pepper and spearmint -- have been used for the same purpose for hundreds, “if not thousands,” of years on the subcontinent.

It may come as no surprise that Colgate students are attending important events around the world -- at least until you learn of last week's excursion. On September 24th, a select group of Colgate International Relations majors and students had an outstanding opportunity presented to them. While the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was in New York City for the United Nations General Assembly, 26 Colgate students and the Chair of the International Relations Department, Professor Fred Chernoff, were given the opportunity to attend an intimate gathering of students and professors from around the country to meet and ask questions of...

Two New York City businessmen have pleaded guilty in a scheme to distribute more than 500,000 tubes of counterfeit toothpaste imported from China. Fifty-one-year-old Saifoulaye Diallo and 47-year-old Habib Bah each face up to 10 years in prison after entering their pleas Thursday in federal court in Brooklyn. Prosecutors say the fake Colgate toothpaste was shipped to discount stores across the United States. They say it had no fluoride and contained microorganisms that posed health threats, but no illnesses have been reported.

Federal authorities have discovered at a Silver Spring, Md., discount store fake "Colgate" toothpaste contaminated with the same poisonous chemical that has been found in some Chinese toothpaste. Colgate's legitimate manufacturer, the Colgate-Palmolive Co., which is the world's largest toothpaste maker, yesterday warned that the counterfeit product, labeled as being manufactured in South Africa, was found in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania as well as in Silver Spring. Food and Drug Administration inspectors found the toothpaste containing diethylene glycol at the Dollar Power Store on 16th Street in Silver Spring. Diethylene glycol is a poison used in antifreeze and...

Syracuse University, along with Cornell University, Colgate University and Ithaca College, made the list of the 100 best campuses for LGBT students in a new book released today. While anti-gay rights efforts have gained traction in many places, particularly in opposition to gay marriage, college campuses are widely embracing efforts to support the gay community. To be considered for the guide, colleges had to be nominated by a current student. About 600 schools were in contention for the 100-best designation, said author Shane Windmeyer, who is the founder of Campus PrideNet, an online network that combats homophobia at colleges. Campuses...

Hello fellow conservatives I am a junior at the University of North Carolina and I am planning on going to Cancun for spring break. I would just like to have some good advice on how to avoid the evils of spring break while enjoying spring break. I know this is very hard to do as it will be tough to control myself as I see a hole bunch of hot girls walking around in their little bikinis drinking cornonas and margritias. The though of that makes me crazy. As a good conservative I have never kissed a girl and won’t...

Colgate professor in Iraq to research resistance groups Wednesday, January 12, 2005 Like many colleagues at Colgate, Victoria Fontan is spending her time between semesters hard at work. For the visiting assistant professor of peace studies, that means trekking halfway around the world and potentially putting herself in harm’s way. Fontan set out for Iraq at the end of December to study and to interview members of the country’s insurgent organizations. On the way to Baghdad, she conducted research in Beirut and Jordan before negotiating to be “embedded” in one of Iraq’s resistance groups. Fontan’s academic focus is on political...

While I agree ... in that intellectual diversity is crucial at an educational institution, I disagree ... that multiculturalism would not enhance the quality of education at Colgate. Rather, I see multiculturalism as one of the most powerful vehicles to intellectual diversity. This belief is not speculative, but based on historical evidence of American society as well as Colgate University itself. While the diversity initiative is focused on the racial demographics at Colgate, conservatives have shifted the focus to intellectual diversity, drawing a line to separate it from racial diversity. However, what is intellectual diversity? Is it simply the distinction...

Colgate Kicks Out Fraternity for Hazing ASSOCIATED PRESS HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) - Colgate University has kicked a fraternity off campus because of hazing new members, college officials said. The Kappa Delta Rho chapter house in Hamilton, 45 miles southeast of Syracuse, will be closed at the end of the semester. In the first reported incident, about 11 p.m. Sept. 24 off-campus in nearby Eaton, Madison County deputies reported finding a group of men in a field, some blindfolded and others reading poetry to them. College officials said it was preceded by underage drinking. Two weeks later, the university placed the...

She's cloned another baby...developing on Drudge..breaking...developing...breaking... AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - A UFO cult said on Saturday the world's second cloned baby had been born to a Dutch lesbian, but cloning experts swiftly dismissed the claim as a baseless stunt. "A baby girl was born yesterday evening. The baby is healthy and the mother too," Bart Overvliet, head of the Raelian movement's Dutch branch, told Reuters by telephone.
