Republican David McCormick is projected to defeat Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) in one of the nation’s preeminent battlegrounds, according to Decision Desk HQ, adding to the party’s margins after it took back control of the upper chamber earlier this week.
The win by McCormick, a wealthy ex-hedge fund CEO, marked the culmination of a decade-long Republican effort to oust Casey. It also means the state’s representation in the Senate will be split, as it had been for the 12 years before Sen. John Fetterman’s (D-Pa.) victory in 2022.
Casey had led throughout much of the campaign, though that lead narrowed in the final weeks. According to an Emerson College poll, he led by a single percentage point two weeks out from Election Day

There is. Hopefully, they won’t be able to cheat Casey in for 6 more years.
If there’s a recount I’m betting on the Democrat. I don’t want that, but that’s where my money is going.
They have to make up over 25,000 votes. If this were prior to Election Day, sure, the DEMs could win. But it seems very unlikely now.
Legal battle over Pennsylvania mail ballots with date issues returns as Senate recount begins
I thought a court had already ruled that ballots with improper dates could not be counted. This race should be well over now.
There will be a recount. DDHQ has been holding off to make sure there were not enough outstanding ballots, e.g. provisional, absentee, etc, to flip the race. Apparently in their judgement any ballots that are left will not make a difference.
RE: They have to make up over 25,000 votes
That’s why Obamacare covers carpal tunnel and tendinitis. Filling out all the fake ballots is difficult.✍️✍️🗳️🗳️🥼🩺💊💊💊
The issue is before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Whew, I was worried for a minute before reading that.
Exactly. They could “find” 500-1,000 votes in a recount to flip, but no way are 25,000 votes going to change in a recount.
The Al Franken/Norm Coleman Minnesota senate seat and Washington governor’s races that everyone remembers for flipping D after the fact had margins only in the 200’s heading into the recount.
Job one, Mr. Trump, is establish a deadline for votes to be turned in by the states. This is beyond stupid and embarrassing. We all know what’s going on here.
Multiple posts on Reddit about Dems in PA literally knocking on, almost down, doors to bet ballots “cured”.
I don’t know if President Trump has the authority to do this. The states have the power to conduct their elections with some, but limited, oversight by Congress. It is the people of the state who should be embarrassed that in the 21st century it takes days or even weeks to count the votes. They need to demand reform.
On the other hand, this mess does make the ‘popular vote’ idea seem to be absurd on its face. Who knows when California will finish counting votes?
Recount is triggered because race is under .5%.
Its a formality.
McCormicks lead is going to hold, he’s up 25k, not sure of the remaining votes, but its declining with every update.
The recount is not likely to change the numbers by more than a few hundred maybe a few thousand votes... at most one way or another... You aren’t making up 25k votes with a recount.
Mighty Casey has struck out.
States run there own elections
Maybe congress can make a law about the federal election but it wouldn’t cover state races.
Voting extending past Wednesday night means those involved are A) incompetent B) crooked or C) both.
I’m going for C) on this one.
I AM CURIOUS HOW MANY AMISH MADE THE DIFFERENCE.
Assuming the Democrats cheated in the first count, a recount is likely to work in our favor as Democrat “mistakes” are corrected.
Same with the provisional ballots: It is far more likely that Republican ballots were wrongfully rejected by cheating Democrat poll workers than visa versa. So, as they go through these provisional ballots and cure them, they will tend to reverse any cheating.
How many times does he have to “win” his seat??
