Big Oil breaks with Trump on potential second withdrawal from Paris climate agreement (barf)

Big Oil is calling on President-elect Donald Trump to keep the U.S. in the Paris climate agreement after withdrawing from the treaty during his first term.

The Paris Agreement, established at the U.N. Climate Change Conference in 2015, is a legally binding treaty between nearly 195 parties who are committed to international cooperation on climate change.

Trump officially withdrew from the treaty in 2020, but the U.S. was reinstated to the climate agreement in 2021 after President Biden took office.

After winning a second term in the 2024 election, Trump is expected to consider a second withdrawal from the agreement. However, some oil companies have expressed opposition to the idea.

When Trump first announced plans to withdraw from the climate agreement in 2017, then-CEO of Shell, Ben van Beurden, was opposed to the idea.

"We believe climate change is real," van Beurden told NPR. "We believe that the world needs to go through an energy transition to prevent a very significant rise in global temperatures. And we need to be part of that solution in making it happen."

Ahead of his upcoming second term, Trump is facing renewed calls to consider remaining in the international climate agreement.

The Paris Agreement, established at the U.N. Climate Change Conference in 2015, is a legally binding treaty

Amazing the Fox News editor allowed that exceedingly misleading narrative to be included because it is not legally binding to US as the Senate never ratified it.

The regs prevent upstart companies from competing against Big Oil.

It’s a way to raise price without colluding.

The Permian Basin was created by little one well independents that slowly grew into giant PIA companies for Big Oil.

They don’t like that.

They just got done gaslighting us over the election.

We told them to shove their gaslight where the sun don't shine, and now they're back with a new and improved gaslight.

Big Oil is HEAVILY subsidized and committed to The Green Agenda. Having their cash flow (and investments) threatened, they are scared shi$$ess that their "Donations" to get it in place are now gonna be down the toilet.

Same with the Big Utilities, who ALSO were Big Donors and reliant on Green Agenda subsidies, to fund their worthless part-time wind farms and solar arrays.

As always, follow the money, folks.

‘No one cares. That he is being heavily subsides by the EU to “convert” to “green power is idiocy on their part. No reason for US to follow suit

The oil companies are more like full spectrum energy companies. They have investments in solar and wind and batteries so ther will make money no matter which way the green energy pendulum swings.

“Big Oil” needs to be defined.

Companies like Shell, Total and BP are political companies, connected with their national governments in many ways. A CEO at those places “denying” climate change would be fired and become persona-non-grata among his fellow EU elites immediately.

Exxon recently spoke on this. They too need to be accepted among the climate fascists who run governments in Europe. They also want the US Govt in the Paris Accords, to do battle on their behalf.

Otherwise, if one is talking about the rest of the oil and gas industry - 99% of them would be happy to leave the phony Paris Accords.

Big Oil knows the Paris Climate Agreement keeps oil prices high, which is where they want them

The awesome thing about being a big oil company... Is that they never need to worry about paying carbon taxes... Their customers pay them. So they can get kudo’s for being pro-climate change supporters and maintaining a woke attitude... Even though they will never actually need to worry about it... Because the world needs oil, always will need oil and while they feint support for climate change policies... They never pay for climate change policies... Poor and working class people pay for the windmills with their tax dollars, and they will pay for wealth distribution (the ultimate goal of climate change) with their tax dollars... Oil companies and the people who have become rich from oil profits will continue to get richer.

The Trump campaign confirmed to Politico in June that the president-elect would be in favor of once again removing the U.S. from the agreement if elected to a second term.

Fox News Digital reached out to Chevron, TotalEnergies and BP for comment but did not hear back by press time.

Trumps word is good. Chevron still thinking?

https://www.npr.org/2024/06/10/nx-s1-4998861/supreme-court-chevron-doctrine

In a momentous decision that will affect vast swaths of American life, the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday undid decades of regulatory law, making it far more difficult for federal agencies to issue rules and regulations that carry out broad mandates enacted by Congress. The vote, along ideological lines, was 6-to-3.

Writing for the court’s conservative supermajority, Chief Justice John Roberts explicitly overturned a 40-year-old precedent that had instructed lower court judges to defer to reasonable agency interpretations of ambiguous federal statutes. Acknowledging that some of the court’s most conservative members had initially proposed or embraced that idea, Roberts said that time and experience had proved the approach “unwise,” “misguided,” and “unworkable.”
