“PLEASE PRAY FOR US!! WE ARE BEING HELD HOSTAGE”. 16 AMERICAN MISSIONARIES AND THEIR CHILDREN, PLUS A CANADIAN CITIZEN, ARE KIDNAPPED BY ARMED GANG MEMBERS IN HAITI AS ABDUCTEE SENDS A SECRET WHATSAPP MESSAGE DURING ABDUCTION. A group of Christian missionaries and their family members were kidnapped on Saturday by gang members in Haiti's capital of Port-au-Prince. The missionaries were abducted from a bus headed to the airport to drop off some members of the group before continuing to another destination in Haiti, a report by the New York Times stated, citing security officials from the crisis-engulfed Caribbean nation. The...

Two American-born pastors handing out gospel leaflets in a predominantly Muslim area of Birmingham, England, were threatened with arrest and warned of being beaten for committing what an officer called a "hate crime." Arthur Cunningham, 48, and Joseph Abraham, 65, were handing out the leaflets and talking with local youths when they were approached and questioned by a police community support officer, or PCSO. When the officer discovered the two Birmingham pastors were born in the U.S., he began a heated criticism of President Bush and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Cunningham explained that the gospel message was not...

"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" is a new film based on the Narnia children's books by English writer C.S. Lewis. According to an unnamed Disney executive in a recent issue of The New York Times, Narnia will provide the company with a Christian niche, among the lucrative fantasy franchises like "Harry Potter" and "The Lord of the Rings." Since some 80 percent of Americans claim to be Christian, this would be pretty big niche. However, it seems likely that the executive meant the evangelical Christian niche, and thus was adopting the evangelical presumption that only those who believe...

I attended the big Bush rally, held yesterday in Westlake, Ohio. I've heard numbers tossed about from 18 to 25 thousand people. My take is it had to be closer to 25, maybe even more. One of the nicest observations I made was that there were many, many young voters - 30 and younger. From what the media keeps saying, all the younger people are going to vote Kerry. It sure didn't look like it from what I could see. Another observation I made (no surprise) was that there were droves of Christian people (Catholics and Evangelicals) and lots and...
