OBSERVATIONS FROM THE BUSH RALLY IN OHIO ON THURSDAY
10-29-04 | Paved Paradise

Posted on 10/29/2004 8:33:22 AM PDT by Paved Paradise

I attended the big Bush rally, held yesterday in Westlake, Ohio. I've heard numbers tossed about from 18 to 25 thousand people. My take is it had to be closer to 25, maybe even more. One of the nicest observations I made was that there were many, many young voters - 30 and younger. From what the media keeps saying, all the younger people are going to vote Kerry. It sure didn't look like it from what I could see. Another observation I made (no surprise) was that there were droves of Christian people (Catholics and Evangelicals) and lots and lots of homeschooled kids and their parents. I think the fact that Bush is capturing the Homeschooler vote is very telling.

All in all, Bush looked well! He looked robust, as did Senator Dole and Tommy Franks. I was about 30 feet from the President. It was one of the most exhilarating experiences I've ever had! Everyone, remember to PRAY for George!

Great to hear about the awesome turnout! I am not sure who told you most the younger voters are going for Kerry...I am 31 and it appears to me (with my limited number of friends) that my generation is sick and tired of our parents hippie generation. Most younger people I know are far more conservative than their parents and want to get this country back on track.

I agree with your idea of younger people being tired of the aging hippie population. I am 23 and am conservative. Most people I know my age are as well. I think most young people who vote for Kerry get their info from MTV or some other trustworthy source haha. I'm sorry, but if Puff Daddy tells me to vote for someone, I'll probably vote the exact opposite of what he says!
Did anyone listen to Hannity on radio yesterday at the end of the show when he interviewed the 19-year-old girl with her dad? She had already sent in an absentee vote for Kerry - when asked, she could not name one single thing Kerry has done or even a reason she voted for him. That is scary.

You're exactly right. I'm 23 and almost everyone I talk to my age can't stand the way MTV and Rolling Stone try to tell us how to vote. It's sickening.

MTV and RS act like they care about human rights and women's issues; where's their outrage over what the Taliban was doing to 28 million Afghans? F---ing a--holes.

I completely agree with your assessment of Gen-X. I'm 33 and like you, I see so many others of my age who reject the liberalism of the Boomers. Conservatives may not be a majority of the 35 and younger crowd, but I think that we outnumber true liberals. As always, the fight is for the middle. The idea that "young" voters are going to go overwhelmingly Democrat is the Left's pipe dream.

Both of my children (early twenties), are far more conservative than I am - even though I consider myself conservative. A good many of their friends are also.

And, about the cell phones only - my children do not keep land lines, nor do most of their friends. I'd say that the unpolled cell phone crowd is pretty much like the land line crowd - both liberal and conservative.

I'm 21 and I agree. It pisses me off that "P. Diddy" has the nerve to tell me how to vote... stick to making crappy music. I think kids my age are more conservative than 20 year olds where 10 or 20 years ago. We see through the babyboomers ideology and their failed results. Liberals don't hold an advantage on the young, just an advantage on the ignorant try-ing to conform to be "cool" young.

Good for you -- I find, too, (and I graduated high school in '71) that a lot of young people are more informed and more conservative than the media lets on. All the young people today are 9/11 young people. You guys (and girls) are probably much more in touch with the kind of world we live in today and the need to have someone strong, credible, focused and honest at the helm of this ship we call the United States of America. Go W!
