SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - One week after a Warsaw pastor is accused of sexually assaulting a teenager, protestors are calling on New Life Christian Church in Warsaw to shut down. “We feel like the church needs to be shut down. We don’t want any counseling for this. We need it shut down because for now, we see them as a parasite to the community prying on children,” Voices Against Injustice activist Zoie Lamar told 16 News Now at a protest outside the church Sunday. It all comes just seven days after former pastor John Lowe confessed to committing adultery...

AP Feed What would Americans do without our stalwart, truth-telling heroes in the press? Those diligent fact-checkers make sure we get the most accurate information possible so we can stay informed. And as we head toward the bitterest, most contentious election since the last one, with a vacant Supreme Court seat to make it even more interesting, we need the straight facts now more than ever. That’s why, when I saw Newsweek magazine promoting this story about possible Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett, I had to know more: Wow. What a scoop! But is it true? Khaleda Rahman, Newsweek:...
  • Vanity: Could glossolalia be ACB's undoing?

I didn't know there's a word for it, but google defines glossolalia as: "the phenomenon of (apparently) speaking in an unknown language, especially in religious worship. It is practiced especially by Pentecostal and charismatic Christians." I have a feeling that the Democrats aren't fighting back as hard as I expected on the potential ACB nomination. They have a plan to destroy her, and maybe glossolalia (aka speaking in tongues) will be their means of attack. I can see Kamala asking her, "Do you believe that you have the Gift of Tongues?"

Like all accounts of God’s faithfulness, mine begins with a genealogy. In the late seventeenth century, my mother’s Congregationalist ancestors journeyed to the New World to escape what they saw as England’s deadly compromise with Romanism. Centuries later, American Presbyterians converted my father’s great-grandmother from Coptic Orthodoxy to Protestantism. Her son became a Presbyterian minister in the Evangelical Coptic Church. By the time my parents were living in twenty-first-century Illinois, their families’ historic Reformed commitments had been replaced by non-denominational, Baptistic evangelicalism. This form of Christianity dominated my Midwestern hometown. My parents taught me to love God, revere the Scriptures,...
  • The Impossibility of Judging or Deposing a True Pope...If Francis is a true Pope…

Accepting the Vatican II Sect as the Catholic Church has consequences. So does believing that Jorge Bergoglio is the Vicar of Christ despite being a public apostate: If he is a valid Pope, then there is no power on earth that can undo his papacy. If he is truly the successor of St. Peter, then he can resign voluntarily, but no one can take the pontificate from him... Clearly, it is high time we looked at what the Catholic Church teaches on the (im)possibility of judging and removing a valid Pope. In this post, therefore, we will examine two things:...

White-haired, suit-wearing Presbyterian lawyers don’t typically garner the fandom of teenagers, but Mr. Z did. Each week dozens of us would gather in his home. He would feed us and let us trash his house, watch movies, and play basketball. Each gathering would culminate in a Bible study... For a year I kept coming back. This unlikely mentor taught us Ephesians. Verse by verse, he explained this beautiful book to us. His love for the Bible was infectious, and I caught it. As I matured, I would always go back to Ephesians...But something stuck out to me that I never...
  • So Many Charismatic Casualties (False Prophecies, Promised Healings That Never Came, etc.)

Have you been burned by a false prophecy? Did you lose your faith when a promised healing never came? Have you had it with flaky teaching in the name of "new revelation"? If so, you are not alone. There are more Charismatic casualties than many of us would care to admit. But let me start here with an honest confession. My own experience in Pentecostal-Charismatic circles has been far more positive than negative. I have worked with the same leadership team for more than 20 years. I have had the privilege of serving with men and women of integrity all...

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places The Bible is very clear that there are spiritual forces behind many of the issues that Christians deal with. And the Bible clearly tells us how to confront these spiritual forces. The Lord Jesus showed His disciples how to deal with entrenched forces that are extremely difficult to defeat. This is found in both Matthew and Mark. The Bible gives great detail to this encounter to which I think we...

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.(Acts 1:7-8)I have taken you, my readers on a very truncated tour of what I believe to be the causes of the death of the Charismatic movement. I have no problem believing that God did indeed...
  • The Sickness Unto Death...Charismatic Post Mortem pt 4

There are many lessons we can learn from the death of the Charismatic movement, if we are willing and humble enough to prayerfully consider them. ( I define the death of a Spiritual movement as this; If you are worse off and further from “the only True God”for having participated). I don’t think it helpful to just dismiss everything about it as rubbish and to try to move on, for only Truth can set us free. I would like to call our attention to the foundational source of the departure, which is the erroneous doctrine which quickly flooded in and...
  • Charismatic Post Mortem...pt 1

Charismatic Leader Lou Engle Kissing the feet of a Catholic Priest In the early 1960’s, there was a very profound revival which spread across the globe, among mainstream, nominal Christians, which came to be known as the Charismatic movement. It is not the purpose of this article to debate the validity of this movement, for the author is fully aware that very early on, there was ecumenism, false teaching and outright compromise with Roman Catholicism, which has caused many to understandably discount the movement entirely as a Satanic counterfeit, and false revival. Having said that I, I know for...

The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity or Annise Parker, the city’s first openly lesbian mayor. And those ministers who fail to comply could be held in contempt of court. “The city’s subpoena of sermons and other pastoral communications is both needless and unprecedented,” Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Christina Holcomb said in a statement. “The city council and its attorneys are engaging in an inquisition designed to stifle any critique of its actions.” ADF, a nationally-known law firm specializing in religious liberty cases, is representing five...

THE CARPENTER'S SHOP: Persecution of Christians affects millions worldwide By Dr. Barry K. Carpenter Published: Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:03 AM. Christians around the world are experiencing unprecedented persecution. Reporter and news analyst Kirsten Powers, interviewed in the Daily Beast, said, “Christians in the Middle East and Africa are being slaughtered, tortured, raped, kidnapped, beheaded, and forced to flee the birthplace of Christianity. The silence has been nearly deafening.” It seems open season on Christians. It is more pronounced, more bold, more contagious, and in more numbers than at any other time in history. It may appear to...

Pope Francis's spirited participation in the 37th Annual Convocation of the Charismatic movements along with some 50,000 Catholics at Rome's Olympic Stadium leaves no doubt that he is the first ever Charismatic pope... Like their Pentecostal brethren who inspired the movement, Catholic Charismatics practice a form of Christianity centered on the transformative role of the Holy Spirit in their lives.... While the Catholic Charismatic Renewal enjoyed papal endorsements from both of Francis's predecessors, the Argentine pope became the first to attend an annual Charismatic convocation. Verbally, the dynamic pope called the Charismatic Renewal "a great force" for the Catholic Church,...

Many Catholics hope Pope Francis will strengthen laymen and women in church, who have been taking on responsibilities of priests in some rural areas. That might trigger a revolution, experts say. The Catholic Church in Latin America has a way of dealing with contradictions: Instead of discussing whether women should be allowed to be ordained to the priesthood or debating the celibate, laymen go ahead and create precedents in their religious communities. They've come up with new forms of church services - services without a priest. Hopes are high during this year's World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro that...
