Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert’s son, Nick, died on Saturday at the age of 26. He had suffered from the genetic disorder neurofibromatosis. Nick was best known for representing the Cavaliers at the NBA Draft lottery on multiple occasions, serving as a good luck charm. LeBron James is the GOAT when it comes to telling small, meaningless lies. The NBA community has been mourning the death of rapper Takeoff, whose real name is Kirshnik Ball, since he was killed in Houston last week. Takeoff was 1/3rd of Migos, the popular rap trio from Atlanta that went to the top of the charts with their sophomore album “Culture” and were often seen in NBA circles. LeBron James was asked about Takeoff’s death on Sunday afternoon after the Los Angeles Lakers lost the Cleveland Cavaliers, 114-100, in LA. His answer went viral for all the wrong reasons. James...

  • NBA Finals: JR Smith isn't the only player to make a boneheaded mistake at the worst possible time

Fans in Cleveland probably will need awhile to get over the Cavaliers’ overtime loss to the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of the NBA Finals — in particular, JR Smith’s blunder in the final seconds of regulation that cost the team a chance to win. And they’re not alone. There are plenty of other fans from other sports towns (or in one case, an entire country) who have felt the same way after some athlete’s boneheaded play at a critical point in a huge game. Here’s a sampling, starting with Smith’s woeful tale (sorry, Cavs fans). With the score...

As National Football League owners are walking on the eggshells left by kneeling players versus the fans, one would think, going forward that words, would be carefully chosen as not to further imperil team and league bottom lines. Cleveland Cavaliers' owner Dan Gilbert might have been hoping his star player's Twitter feud with the President of the United States would die down before the start of the National Basketball Association season. It didn't turn out that way.

LeBron James called Donald Trump a "bum" after the US President rescinded an invitation for Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry to go to the White House. Trump tweeted Saturday that Curry is no longer invited to the White House because of what the president called hesitation by the two-time NBA MVP in deciding whether to make the traditional champions' trip to Washington. That prompted an angry response from Cleveland Cavaliers star James. James tweeted: "U bum. Stephen Curry already said he ain't going! So therefore ain't no invite. Going to White House was a great honour until you showed...

Kyrie Irving did not sleep tight because the team hotel did let the bed bugs bite Saturday night. "Our team said I was out with flu-like symptoms," Irving confessed to the media Monday night about his absence from Sunday's game against the Oklahoma. "It was honestly from the bed bugs from the frickin' Hilton that we stayed at." The Cavaliers stayed at the oldest hotel in Oklahoma City over the weekend ... OAKLAND — What's one more week compared to a 40-year championship drought? What's one more week when it means a shot at the first title in franchise history? The Warriors eliminated the Rockets with a 104–90 victory in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals on Wednesday, advancing to an NBA Finals date with the Cavaliers. This is a matchup worth waiting for, and a little patience will be required. Because both Golden State and Cleveland made quick work of their conference finals foes, the NBA will hit the pause button for a full week before the championship series opens...

UPDATE: There has been a Twitter denial (from Waiters), which is strange because the original story used a direct quote: Cleveland Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters told Cleveland.com he recently informed Cavs ownership that he is Muslim and that he will abstain from joining his team during the national anthem, doing so Wednesday night in Utah -- though Waiters did stand with the Cavs during Friday's anthem at Denver. On Wednesday, the first game Waiters was coming off the bench for Cleveland, he was not on the floor during the anthem or when the starters were introduced. Waiters told the Northeast...

LeBron James is removing his talents from Miami. Four years after stunning the NBA world with “The Decision,” the Miami Heat forward announced an even larger revelation on SI.com Friday, perhaps destined to be called “The Redemption.” James, 29, will return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, close to his hometown of Akron and far from the sunny beaches where he led the Heat to four NBA Finals appearances, two ending in championships. CLEVELAND -- As he came back onto the floor with 5:50 remaining the seats were half emptied, as they'd been seven long years ago and as they could be as soon as next season. The missing half of the audience had not waited to attend the final minutes of what may be LeBron James's final game in Cleveland. The night began with the same kind of promise that greeted James's 2003 arrival to Cleveland, and it ended with the crescendo of frustrations that has grown with each of his seven springtimes here. But this was entirely different than the others....
