Add the National Republican Congressional Committee to the list of conservative groups capitalizing on former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina’s secret meetings with lobbyists at a Caribou Coffee near the White House. President Obama has repeatedly promised that his would be “the most transparent administration in history,” but the House Energy and Commerce Committee released a report yesterday showing that high-ranking Obama staffers, including Messina, used private email addresses to bypass these rules and meet with industry lobbyists. “I will roll Pelosi to get the 4 billion,” Messina wrote Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America lobbyist Jeffrey...

Aides to President Barack Obama used personal email accounts to contact pharmaceutical companies and deliberately scheduled meetings in coffee shops away from the White House in order to skirt disclosure rules, according to a Congressional report on Wednesday. Among the most damaging findings are emails from Jim Messina – the former White House deputy chief of staff who now manages the president's re-election campaign – to a drugs lobbyist in the days before Mr Obama's health care reforms passed Congress in 2010.In an email from his personal account, Mr Messina promised "I will roll [Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi]...

House Republicans on the Energy and Commerce Committee raised concerns at a Tuesday hearing that White House staffers hold meetings at a nearby Caribou Coffee to avoid disclosure requirements. "White House staff apparently purposely schedule meetings at the Caribou Coffee around the corner from the White House so that those meetings won’t show up on the White House logs," said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Calif.), chairman of the Oversight subcommittee. Republicans portrayed the White House as failing to live up to campaign promises on transparency. Stearns pointed to President Obama, who as a candidate said healthcare negotiations would air on C-SPAN,...

For the first time since he was banned from leading weekly friday prayers in Egypt 30 years ago, prominent Muslim scholar Yusuf al-Qaradawi will lead thousands in the weekly prayers from Cairo’s Tahrir Square on Friday. Sources told Al Arabiya that a military force will accompany the head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars from his home to Tahrir Square, provide security for the prayers and accompany him back to his residence. Al-Qaradawi last delivered a Friday prayer sermon in Egypt in 1981 after the assassination of former President Anwar el-Sadat.

He's got a face full of warts, yellow, snaggly teeth, and the raspy voice of a retching cat. Nevertheless, Yusuf al-Qaradawi is an international sensation, the Sheik of All Media. TV star, best-selling author, internet proprietor, high profile movie consultant -- wow, is there nothing this busy little Hitler-lover can't do? Sheik Yusuf al-Qaradawi is one of those people you've never heard of who is nonetheless radically remaking your world. From his swanky home in Qatar, this Muslim Brotherhood cleric sends out millions of razor-edged tentacles designed to strangle Western civilization and usher in the glorious new age of global...

Homeland Security: President Obama promised lobbyists wouldn't run his White House. They're just doing it from across the street — at a Shariah-compliant coffee chain tied to a radical jihadist group. That's right: According to the New York Times, prominent K Street lobbyists are buttonholing Obama officials at a Caribou Coffee shop on Pennsylvania Avenue, raising far more than just ethics questions. What the Times story neglects to mention is that Caribou Coffee is a Shariah-compliant firm owned by an Islamic bank based in Bahrain. One of its founders and a current adviser are leaders in the radical Muslim Brotherhood....

Looking to invest in a way that doesn’t conflict with their faith When Caribou Coffee went public last year, sharp-eyed investors noticed some unusual promises in its prospectus. Caribou, the nation’s second-largest coffeehouse chain, said it would never sell pork or porn. It wouldn’t charge or receive interest, either. By following financial rules that are part of the Islamic code called Shariah, Caribou is among a small but growing list of Western businesses looking to make themselves as attractive as possible to Muslim investors. Some, like Caribou, are motivated by principle, while others see Muslim investors as an attractive new...

The kids aren’t alright. An epidemic is sweeping the nation as teenagers down the addictive brew by the pint. Underage alcohol consumption? No, coffee. As anti-food industry advocacy groups like Center for Science in the Public Interest sharpen their legal knives against Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX), the media are brewing up alarmist reports on teenage caffeine consumption. CBS’s “Early Show” followed ABC’s lead from two days ago. That network’s June 19 edition of “Good Morning America” presented Starbucks like a drug pusher preying on young addicts. “Coffee has always been considered an adult drink, but today coffee drinkers are much, much...

Muslims who want to live under the Islamic Sharia law were told Wednesday to get out of Australia as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state and...

Islamic Terrorism's Fave Coffee Opens in Detroit's Airport By Debbie Schlussel If you live in one of the many areas around the U.S. (and elsewhere in the world) where Caribou Coffee is sprouting, please don't patronize this coffee chain. That includes people waiting at baggage in Detroit Metro Airport's McNamara terminal, where the store has now been awarded the exclusive, coveted slot. In the past, I've written about Caribou Coffee's ties to Islamic terror in the New York Post (a version of the article appears here)and discussed it on Fox News Channel's "O'Reilly Factor" and MSNBC's "Hardball with Chris Matthews."...

In regard to the Atlantic bombing story on 60 Minutes II this evening, did anyone notice that the "out-of-the-way coffee shop" where the FBI met Richard Jewell and his attorney, in order to let them no that he was not a suspect in the Atlanta bombings, just happened to be a "Caribou Coffee" shop? A coffee chain owned by Muslim supporter(s) and basically people who rally behind the radical Palestinians in the Middle East. They recently condemned Starbucks' Israeli owner of anti-Muslim rhetoric at a speech given by him in Seattle (earlier in June '02, I believe)? An accusation, by...
