Barack Obama "says what he thinks people want to hear" according to a majority in the latest New York Times Poll. Admittedly, John McCain's numbers aren't any better, but then again he hasn't based his entire campaign upon being "new politician" whose honesty and integrity is matched only by Christ himself. And why has the halo of honesty faded? Because of statements like those in his Iraq press conference this morning, in which he was pummeled by Democrats and Republicans alike. During the primaries, Obama insisted he would have all troops out of Iraq within 16 months of his election....

FRESH from her victories in three out of four states last week and surging back in the national polls, Hillary Clinton has crafted a new strategy for winning the Democratic nomination which she believes will legitimise her claim to be president. Clinton thinks she can win a majority of the popular vote in primaries and caucuses, even if she cannot overtake Barack Obama, her rival, in the number of “pledged” delegates who will vote to choose the candidate at the Democratic national convention in August. snip...
  • What's up with Bill?

He's just done the unthinkable, alienating one of the most importants group in the Democratic constituency, blacks. Jesse Jackson 20-years ago was the man on the spot, a serious African-American candidate making the white boys sweat. Now, however, he's an over-the-hill, discredited hypocrate with two love children and a fractured marriage. Comparing Obama to him is worse than "ghettoising" him; it's refusing to take him seriously even as a black leader. So why'd he do it? I don't buy Hillary's excuse. He didn't "get carried away," and it wasn't about "sleep deprivation," any more than their marriage is about love....

Memorandum to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton It is now widely expected that you will run for President in 2008, after successfully standing for reelection next year. By all accounts, you will enjoy the strong support of your party's generally left-of-center primary voters. But to win the Oval Office, you will have to overcome a very different challenge — persuading sufficient numbers of independents and perhaps even Republicans that you are the first Democrat in two generations who can safely be entrusted with the presidency in time of active, global hostilities. "Mr. Bolton is greatly admired by Jewish voters and other...
