Bee populations are under threat around the world, but one house in Spain apparently provided the perfect conditions for a huge hive. A couple in the historic southern city of Granada, in Andalusia, had been troubled by a strange buzzing noise in their house for some time -- and when things got so bad they couldn't sleep at night, they decided to take action. Beekeeper Sergio Guerrero told CNN the couple had first noticed bees at their property around a year ago, but no one from the police, firefighters or the local council had been able to help. When temperatures...

A huge swarm of bees surrounded people at the Muslim Community Mosque in Phoenix, Arizona, in a terrifying moment caught on video. At least 20 people were stung Friday, Phoenix Fire Department spokeswoman Ardell Deliz told ABC News. One person -- a 24-year-old man -- was transported to the hospital in stable condition, Deliz said. Firefighters rushed to the scene and sprayed the area with a foam that calms the insects, but Deliz said it took at least a few hours until a bee keeper could come remove them. The Muslim Community Mosque did not immediately respond to a request...

Death row inmate Daryl Holton was pronounced dead at 1:25 a.m. CDT Wednesday. He is the first Tennessee inmate put to death by electrocution since 1960. The 45-year-old Holton had confessed to shooting his three young sons and their half-sister in 1997 in the town of Shelbyville, about 50 miles south of Nashville. Sniffer bees with a nose for explosives are set to make a major breakthrough in the war on terror. An extraordinary invention by a small British company is being praised by American scientists who have been testing it. Researchers at Inscentinel Ltd, which has just three employees at its Harpenden, Herts, HQ, have developed an amazing "sniffer box" to harness the bees' incredible sense of smell. Now Inscentinel is set to cash in when its box full of computer technology that turns honeybees into bomb detectors goes into mass production. Bee sniffer squads could be on duty at airports, train...
