Mitt Romney plans to shed the government’s stake in General Motors if he wins the presidency, even if it means taking a loss, the presumptive GOP nominee told the Detroit News.

Standard & Poor's downgraded Spain's credit rating by two notches on Thursday, the latest sign Europe's debt crisis is once again gathering force. S&P said the downgrade, from A to BBB+, "reflects our view of mounting risks to Spain's net general government debt as a share of GDP in light of the contracting economy."

-snip- “Why is Barack Obama so negative? In the last 24 hours, he’s completely abandoned his campaign’s call for ‘new politics,’ equating the election to a ‘brawl’ and promising to ‘bring a gun,' " said the RNC's Alex Conant.

Boehner congratulates the American people for voting right in these elections. As he speaks of his background where he worked liked crazy at odd jobs to make his way and the loss of American core values in America, he breaks down several times. Boehner has had the confidence of the GOP House members because they find him trustworthy and his conservative bona fides are solid. I think he's going to do the US proud. (BTW...I saw Boehner break down publicly two other times...once when he was terribly upset about the Dems blocking funding for our troops...the other when he was...

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- A federal judge on Wednesday stopped companies from developing oil and gas wells on billions of dollars in leases off Alaska's northwest coast, saying the federal government failed to follow environmental law before it sold the drilling rights.

THE TROUBLED Assets Relief Program (TARP) goes out of business in October, and not many Americans will be sorry to see it fold. The $700 billion program, hastily improvised at the height of the global financial panic in September 2008, broke all the rules of free-market capitalism.

Obama was supposed to appear 22 minutes ago for a statement on Health Care. A comparison was given to George W. who was always prompt. Looks like the CBO report has stymied Obowma and he's now scrambling to come up with something to say.

I never watch MSNBC, Buchanan or O'Donnell anymore but I stumbled across this one and thought others might find it entertaining.

Turley on MSNBC says Obama is trampling on US Civil Liberties by going further than Bush on wiretapping.

It was the usual bobble-headed speech where Obama was seen as addressing the room so warmly and personally, but actually is him addressing 2 teleprompter boxes. Now he is getting questions from the Business Roundtable. The Roundtable seems to be asking just sycophantic questions. But what got me is that Obama came on 5 minutes AFTER the market closed. Seems that he's getting the hint he needs to shut up while markets are open because he tanks them.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate passage of an $838 billion stimulus bill triggered an intense round of late-night bargaining on Tuesday, with the White House and key congressional Democrats seeking agreement on a final compromise aimed at combatting the worst economic crisis in decades.

NEW YORK, Sept 25 (Reuters) - U.S. regulators are looking into credit derivatives as they investigate market manipulation, and some lawyers believe the government is looking at whether traders have used the products to help push banks closer to insolvency

2 movies I found worth watching recently. I found good undercurrents of traditional values. "Spanglish" starring Adam Sandler (isn't he pro-Bush?) about a man in LA married to a neurotic wife (who is hilarious BTW) who hires a beautiful maid with a daughter. The maid cannot speak a word of English and is fiercely protective of her daughter. Adam Sandler is drawn to the maid because of his neurotic wife but in the end remains faithful to the wife. Lots of family values in this one. No affair takes place. "In Good Comapny" with Dennis Quaid. About an advertising exec...

I was amazed how negative the live FR thread was during the debate. I read the thread first, then watched the debate. Because of the negativity of FR, I was prepared for the worst. I couldn't believe it when I watched the debate. I thought Bush won hands down. Kerry was the usual senatorial slick debator, but so what? I had been expecting this for months. Bush was his usual self also. Full of conviction, strong, and gracious when appropriate. He also showed displeasure at many of Kerry's comments, which I applauded him for. I thought Bush won hands down....

Has Clelland on. Said he tried to get the Bush campaign to send someone over but couldn't get anyone to respond. I wonder if it's because of the way he treated Malkin the other day.

According to O'Neill, Dobbs was asked yesterday to interview the vets while they were gathered at the Washinton Marriott. He did not do it, even though a hit piece on them would come out on them the next day.

Please excuse the vanity, but I briefly recall Edwards saying the other day that Kerry still had schrapnel in him along with a statement about bleeding in Vietnam. Is this true?

O'Neill told Brit that he has actually given MORE to Democrats than Repubs over the years. Fred Barnes backed off a little on the claim that he made yesterday that this was the most egrarious case of media neglect in a significant story he's ever seen. He said that the fact that the LA Times reported on it today shows promise that this will get a good airing. Mort Kondracke very strong that the Democrats have been much dirtier than Repubs in this campaign. Juan Williams scoffed but had no rebuttal in the fact of Kondracke's very strong examples and...
