WASHINGTON, Nov. 9, 2004 -- There were minor voting irregularities on Election Day — long lines, voting machine breakdowns, shortages of provisional ballots — but some people are now leveling charges of voter fraud. Doug Chapin, a nonpartisan election analyst, finds the claims to be baseless. "There were no problems that would lead me to believe that there were stolen elections or widespread fraud," he said. "There was no overwhelming reason to cast doubt on the outcome of this election," seconded Democratic strategist Donna Brazile, the campaign manager for Al Gore's 2000 campaign. "George Bush got more votes this time."...

Dave Pentecost is one of a number of volunteer filmmakers who worked with Michael Moore to document election day conditions at polling sites throughout Ohio.... Dave sends BoingBoing this short movie comprised of excerpts from footage they captured on November 2, 2004. Much of it was apparently edited on laptops in the back of a bus. He says: "Our thanks to People for the American Way and Election Protection. My apologies to the Jayhawks for not clearing the music first. (I'm still waiting to hear back, their rights person is in transit, I'll do it next week). The decision to...

Washington, DC:The Nader/Camejo campaign has filed a challenge to the voting results in New Hampshire after receiving numerous complaints from voting rights activits. Below is Nader's letter to New Hampshire requesting a recount. Also, below is Nader's view on electronic voting without a paper trial. In addition, the Nader/Camejo campaign offered our campaign to poll watchers who wanted to be credentialed to be inside to monitor electronic voting. Hundreds of democracy activists in Maryland working with TrueVoteMD.org were credentialed to monitor polling through the Populist Party which was created by Nader-Camejo supporters in Maryland.

Votergate is the investigative documentary feature film uncovering the truth about new computer voting systems, which allow a few powerful corporations to record our votes in secret. But Votergate is not just a warning. The film strongly concludes that elections are harder to defraud when voters turn out in big numbers.

Tuesday, November 2, 2004 -- Election Day Two Hours to Go Dear Friends, We’ve only got two hours left on the East Coast! I am in Cleveland and the turnout is huge. It was the same this morning as we went to polling sites in Florida. People waited for three hours to vote, but no one was deterred. One man told me “I’d wait in this line three days if I had to.” It’s raining here in Ohio, we’ve got a big bus and we’re pulling people out of their homes (gently!) handing out free umbrellas, ponchos, and bottles of...

I just visited my local Blockbuster, and I was disgusted to see that they doubled their stock of Fahrenheit 911 rentals this week (From about 20 copies to 40 or so). Now, I know that there may be a renewed interest because we are just days away from a national election, and they may just be trying to meet anticipated demand, but it still seemed a little partisan on the part of the movie rental giant. Am I being paranoid or does Blockbuster have an agenda? BTW - They have one copy of Fahrenhype 911, and another movie called Bush's...

Anybody else getting the feeling that NBC is the Clinton wing of the media? They broke protocol on backing Kerry and tore down the Time's story on the missing weapons. Katie went after Kerry pretty hard in her interview. Matthews had an orgasm when he saw Bill in PA. To me, they seem to have an almost subtle anti-Kerry bent this last week. Could they be trying to crash Kerry's campaign for the Clintons or even at the behest of the Clintons? If they pick up the story on the Hanoi documents proving Kerry was doing the bidding of the...

Speaking of celebs on the campaign trail: Ashton Kutcher is known as the guy on MTV who punks his unsuspecting Hollywood friends. But at a rally for Democratic veep candidate John Edwards at a Dubuque, Iowa, hockey rink yesterday, Kutcher told a rather excited crowd that he, too, has been punk'd -- by George Bush. "I thought he was a good ol' boy," the Iowa native told the ralliers about why he voted for Dubya in 2000. But "unlike Bush, I know how to admit when I was wrong." Someone in the audience yelled, "You got punk'd!" reports The Post's...

Dixie Chicks: ‘Boycott Sinclair’ In what they call a "Sinclair Media Alert,” the country group The Dixie Chicks have called for a boycott of Sinclair Broadcasting for using "their monopoly rights to the public airwaves ... to sway the election in favor of a candidate that staunchly allows media companies to get even bigger.” The Chicks characterize radio giant Clear Channel as using "its power to promote a pro-Republican, pro-war agenda,” and then proceed to compare Sinclair with Clear Channel. "Now we have a giant television company that is making Clear Channel's antics look like a day at the beach,”...

We all know thanks to Drudge that the Dems are planning on claiming voter intimidation by the Republicans even if it does not exist. I think we need an army of Freepers armed with video cameras to stake out polling areas in FL, OH, CO, NJ, PA and any other disputed state. They may not let you inside the polling area, but you can camp outside the building and catch everyone's smiling faces as they exit. The camera doesn't lie.

Got an email response from Sinclair concerning my email encouraging them to air the Stolen Honor Documentary. First I wrote: These men suffered immeasurably at the hands of the VC, and in part John Kerry's words and actions when he came back to this country aided in their suffering. They deserve to be heard. For 30 years this country has turned a blind eye to their plight because we didn't want to open the wounds of the past. Meanwhile, these former POWs live with the open wounds of their memories. They were beaten until they prayed for death, and then...

RD: What's your position on embryonic stem cell research? Reeve: I advocate it because I think scientists should be free to pursue every possible avenue. It appears though, at the moment, that embryonic stem cells are effective in treating acute injuries and are not able to do much about chronic injuries. Snippet

October 09, 2004 - Michael Moore's nose is growing… And I'm offering him free popcorn. Why, Mike, why? Why is it that you have a deep psychological need to tell people things that aren't true? Things that are blatant lies… things that are instantly verifiable. I read this morning in the Minneapolis Star Tribune that you once again told the audience last night at the U of M that you'd never heard of our movie… I'm confused. First you told MSNBC's Buchanan and Press that you'd never heard of me or the film. Fine. Maybe after 9 months of requests...

Teacher Pulled From Classroom Can Put President Bush Photo Back Up POSTED: 10:35 am EDT October 5, 2004 UPDATED: 10:41 am EDT October 5, 2004 SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. -- Was a New Jersey schoolteacher trying to teach her kids to vote the way she does? School officials say that appears to be the case. They say middle-school teacher Shiba Pillai-Diaz will be allowed to return to the classroom if she stops making political statements. She'll even be allowed to put her picture of President Bush back up on her bulletin board. The school superintendent says Pillai-Diaz once told her students...

Anyone else notice that Kerry advocated reinstating the draft during the debate last night? He said he had a plan to add two more divisions to the army and more special forces. How do you do that without the draft?

Al Qassem hosted an Egyptian guest who over an entire hour was allowed to advocate, with sickening insistence, the beheading of hostages in Iraq as a legitimate act of resistance to what he called "these American dogs," regardless of whether the captives -- who are of many different nationalities -- are military personnel, civilians, aid workers, or spies.

Sorry for the stupid question, but I see the words Vanity and Zot on some of the posts, and I have no idea what they mean. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks
