Dixie Chicks: Boycott Sinclair
In what they call a "Sinclair Media Alert, the country group The Dixie Chicks have called for a boycott of Sinclair Broadcasting for using "their monopoly rights to the public airwaves ... to sway the election in favor of a candidate that staunchly allows media companies to get even bigger.
The Chicks characterize radio giant Clear Channel as using "its power to promote a pro-Republican, pro-war agenda, and then proceed to compare Sinclair with Clear Channel. "Now we have a giant television company that is making Clear Channel's antics look like a day at the beach, the Chicks' Website declares.
The Chicks also provide some legal analysis for their fans, maintaining that Sinclairs plans to air "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal on its 62 stations constitutes a "clear violation of the spirit of the law.
The Chicks punctuate their alert saying, "during the past week there has been a massive backlash, and Sinclair is on the defensive. They are on the ropes and we need you to help us keep them there.
If we can't earn a living, nobody can?
Do those twits still exist?
we already has a thread on this.
The Dixie B!tches just won't ever learn, will they?
Have these women sold a CD since their last pronouncements?
They are now crossover artists because no one who buys country will buy them.
Hey Ditzy Twits - Ever heard of the FIRST AMENDMENT?
Thread already posted.
brewcrew: 'F U'
They're still around?????
If they keep up this pace, they'll be selling as many records as Joan Baez in a few years.
using "their monopoly rights to the public airwaves ... to sway the election in favor of a candidate"
sounds like what they do at their concerts!
I think Boycotting the Dixie Chicks Dixie Hasbeens would be a better idea.

I don't think so. Sinclair seems to me as strong and resolute as ever! Goodbye, Girl!
They still think anyone pays attention to them?
Ohhhhhhhhhhh snoozzzzzzzzzzzzze!! The Dixie Twits are still together?
Sinclair reaches only 24% of the US market. In California, they own only one station -- KOVR-13, the ABC affiliate in Sacramento. In Sacramento, there are six broadcast TV stations; an on cable, there are about 120 channels. So, I fail to see how Sinclair represents a "monopoly."
But I thought boycotts of those with whom you disagree politically was censorship???
Nope, can't place em'.
