RD: What's your position on embryonic stem cell research?
Reeve: I advocate it because I think scientists should be free to pursue every possible avenue. It appears though, at the moment, that embryonic stem cells are effective in treating acute injuries and are not able to do much about chronic injuries.

Sean had a caller tell him about this - she had read it in her doctor's office. He was going to google it.
There ain't gonna be no miracle cure for SCI. Reeves knew it. I know it. Anyone with a severed spinal cord knows it.
But, somebody in the medical field is going to make money off of the futile hopes of the suffering. (end of bitter rant)
Thanks.
I'm sick and tired of these bastards using people like me to justify killing and experimenting on baby fetuses. I'd rather stay in this chair than walk at the expense of a babies' life.
Just leave me out of it!
Wonder if that includes dissecting toddlers? Destroying innocent life just because yours is phucked up is no excuse.
This is what i thought all along! They know embryonic stem cells don't work, but they want to use them anyways.
The left is maddening beyond belief at times. If I could will you out of that chair I would. I will pray for your happiness and a full life instead.
Interesting to note that actor Tommy Lee Jones suffered the exact same fall as Reeve did when he fell of his horse.
Most people don't know the facts on this issue. One, private researchers are allowed to do embryonic stem cell research. It is only federal money that is restricted. Two, there is little to be gained from this research, which is why private researchers are using adult stem cells and cord blood. There is really no scientific benefit to using embryonic stem cells. The RATS should be ashamed for exploiting this issue. They will look bad and desperate for what they are doing.
No doubt - check out
I didn't see Reeces volunteering HIS kids to donate their cells (and lives) for this 'cure'.
Exploitation, plain and simple.

Yep my first reply was #11.
So would/do I.
"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" Matthew 16:26
The whole embryonic stem cell debate is for the abortionists and not for researchers. Otherwise, the money would be pouring in from investors and private laboratories and such. The real success so far is from adult stem cells and even they are not promising for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, stroke or spinal cord injury.
Airborne,
I think the real goal of the left is to assist the abortion industry so they can come to the place where they can tell women who are hesitant to get an abortion that they will actually be doing "a noble, humanitarian act" by having an abortion. The ongoing "embryonic cell research" industry would just be a smokescreen for the real nature of the beast, and a profitable smokescreen at that.
Thanks for the kind words. Trust me, my life is full (at times over flowing), but not a day goes by without a struggle. The challenge is to not let it get the best of me. So far, so good. After 23 years in a wheelchair, it seems almost normal.
Flying thru the air on wires on a stage must be a lot more fun than flying off a horse and crashlanding on your 'melon'.
