Sean had a caller tell him about this - she had read it in her doctor's office. He was going to google it.

There ain't gonna be no miracle cure for SCI. Reeves knew it. I know it. Anyone with a severed spinal cord knows it.
But, somebody in the medical field is going to make money off of the futile hopes of the suffering. (end of bitter rant)

Reeve: I advocate it because I think scientists should be free to pursue every possible avenue. Wonder if that includes dissecting toddlers? Destroying innocent life just because yours is phucked up is no excuse.

If he hadn't had his tragic accident Reeve wouldn't have given a sack of crap about stem-cell research.
Interesting to note that actor Tommy Lee Jones suffered the exact same fall as Reeve did when he fell of his horse.

Most people don't know the facts on this issue. One, private researchers are allowed to do embryonic stem cell research. It is only federal money that is restricted. Two, there is little to be gained from this research, which is why private researchers are using adult stem cells and cord blood. There is really no scientific benefit to using embryonic stem cells. The RATS should be ashamed for exploiting this issue. They will look bad and desperate for what they are doing.

Limbaugh had a quote from someone apparently in the field of spinal cord research who was talking about traumatic injuries/severing of the cord and the healing mechanisms that prevented reattachment from happening. The person also spoke about the viable uses for particular types of stem cells and, basically, the whole thing came down to: reeves was either BS-ing everyone or was woefully misinformed/misguided by people into thinking cord separation could be corrected with cells.
Flying thru the air on wires on a stage must be a lot more fun than flying off a horse and crashlanding on your 'melon'.
