Key Points Target missed first-quarter revenue estimates as transactions fell, and the retailer cut its full-year sales outlook. The company has been struggling to return to growth for years, and created a new office to try to accelerate its turnaround. Target in part blamed falling consumer sentiment, uncertainty about tariffs, and backlash to its rollback of key diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives for its performance.

(Brooklyn Center, MN) -- The Minnesota State High School League will still allow student-athletes to participate in sports consistent with their gender identity. A memo sent to schools said, "The Minnesota State High School League, similar to other youth sports organizations, is subject to state anti-discrimination laws, which prohibit discrimination based on gender identity." The letter comes in the wake of President Trump signing an executive order to ban transgender athletes from playing girl's and women's sports. The M-S-H-S-L said it will continue to review how state laws interplay with the executive order.

Tim Walz has embellished and selectively omitted facts and circumstances of his military career for years. We, retired Command Sergeants Major of the Minnesota National Guard, feel it is our duty and responsibility to bring forth the truth as we know it concerning his service record. So, we have put together a timeline of his service post 9/11. To the best of our knowledge, this information is completely true, having been verified by all those who served in positions with first hand knowledge of the facts and circumstances of his service and departure from the Minnesota National Guard. Many of...

The S&P 500's October close may predict Presidential Election Winner. The performance of Standard & Poor's 500-stock index from July 31 to Oct. 31 has a curious way of predicting the winner of the Presidential Election. The indicator has a success rate of 86% success rate when the incumbent president is not running for reelection. When an incumbent president is running for reelection it has an 82% success rate. Should the S&P 500 record a positive return from July 31 to October 31, it signals the reelection of the party in-power, while a decline suggests replacement.

A federal lawsuit filed by the parent of a Lincoln Park Middle School student alleges his son's 2015 suicide was the result of "severe and pervasive harassment" — and the Duluth school district's failure to stop it. Todd Seehus is suing the Duluth school district, its school board and former and current administrators at the school because of their alleged disregard of complaints about students bullying Tristan Seehus, 13, who killed himself in February 2015. Tristan was harassed verbally and physically because of his perceived sexual orientation or gender expression, according to the complaint, filed Friday in U.S. District Court....

ST. PAUL — Minnesota hasn’t done enough to help African-Americans get good jobs and climb out of poverty, Gov. Mark Dayton and other leaders said Thursday. The call for more action was prompted by a withering U.S. Census Bureau report showing the typical household income for black Minnesotans falling by nearly $4,000 last year, even as other racial groups saw stable or rising incomes. “These economic gaps are driven by the lack of equal access to good jobs, housing, transportation, education, and health care,” Dayton said in a statement. “They should constitute a call to action for all of Minnesota’s...

Everyone complains about taxes. But millions of American households apparently are doing something about it: Picking up and moving. A CNBC analysis of tax data and figures provided by two major national moving companies shows that states with the highest per-capita taxes, for the most part, are also seeing the biggest net migration out of those states. Take Connecticut, for example. Earlier this week, the Nutmeg State's legislature approved a collection of new taxes to close a two-year, $40 billion budget to help pay the multibillion-dollar tab to repair and replace the state's dilapidated roads and bridges. The package includes...

This year began with an election on whether Rep. John Boehner should continue as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. A number of brave House conservatives, led by Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK), Tom Massie, and Rep. Steve King (R-IA), waged a historic effort to deny Boehner the Speakership. What resulted was an earth-shattering groundswell of grassroots opposition to Boehner that shocked every Republican congressman. It was unsuccessful only because a handful of otherwise reliable House conservatives chose to support Boehner and give him another chance. And look at what their vote for Boehner has wrought in just two short...
