Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) is pushing a repeal of the Gun-Free School Zones Act (1990) in order to make it easier for law-abiding teachers, faculty, and others, to be armed to fend off would-be attackers on school campuses.
The Gun-Free School Zones Act was put in place by President George H.W. Bush (R), barring the possession of a firearm in a “school zone” and thereby creating myriad gun-free soft targets in places filled with defenseless children, teachers, and school staff.
Massie wants to see the Gun-Free School Zones Act repealed as a way of removing the soft target moniker from schools around the country.
Gun Owners of America praised Massie’s push, saying, “Congress needs to abandon the failed federal gun-free schools policy & arm willing teachers instead!”

The Uniparty is going to go nuts.
The Uniparty is going to go nuts.
This act is a direct danger to trans school shooters. How would they then be able to express their thoughts and emotions if anytime one of them started to shoot up a school, some nut with a gun shot them dead before they could finish what they were doing?
DOA in the Senate. It will never get 60 votes.
“I hope Massie succeeds in this.”
Me, too. It was sad watching the video of the kids running in the church toward the doors and then out of the building. I saw one in a wheelchair. The adults (assume teachers) looked helpless to protect them.
I thought we were supposed to hate Massie?
Don’t bet on it...It’s a mother and apple pie option.
As if gun free zones work.
This is an important initiative. I hope it suceeds.
I will be praying for this
At a Catholic School Mass, the younger students are usually paired with an older student they don’t sit with teachers.
I’ll take that bet. I can hear it now “the Republicans want to flood the school areas with guns”. That Rhetoric will work on Murk and Suzie plus pretty much every Rat.
10 years ago I’d have been 100% behind this. Unfortunately, there are sufficient numbers of trans and trans activist teachers, that I’m a bit hesitant.
From the article I can't tell if he was so moronic as to sign the bill into law or whether they passed it over his veto.
“they don’t sit with teachers.”
In the video, nobody was sitting. Everyone was running, willy-nilly. Groups, singles, little kids, older children, adults. Running.
I had a friend that grew up in the Soviet Union and he said by 12 years old they had learned how to use, clean and maintain all of the light individual and crew served weapons in the civil defense arsenal. Imagine our snowflakes learning that!
Pretty sure this goes nowhere, but provides some fireworks along the way.
Sometimes folk do the right thing not for the right reasons, but because they feel the heat of a primary challenge.
