So there's this walking / biking trail not far from the house and I decided to start taking walks in the mornings. This morning I was walking along and I said "hi-ya" to the radically obese Indian guy that's ALWAYS sitting on the first bench to your right (he drinks Pepsi - a sh*tload of them - as evident by the pile of cans sitting next to him). We usually make small talk but didn't say much this morning. He just had this puzzled look on his face and he was motioning towards this small footbridge and creek around the...

Hello! I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year! If you are a fellow FReeper that happens to be having some financial difficulties this year, which might prevent you from making this a joyous time for your children, then please let me know your situation in private email. I’ve limited funds but I’ll help whomever I can. And I promise to keep your situation and whatever help I may be able to provide forever private. I do have a few conditions: 1) Your request must be made by private email. 2) You have to have been...

Dear Friend, I have decided, after much prayerful consideration, to consider a bid for the Republican nomination for the presidency. I am running to spread hope and ideas. We are a blessed nation at an important crossroads. War, corruption, disintegrating families, and for some, hopelessness, tear at the American Dream. We need hope and ideas. I am running for America…to be of service in a crucial time of trial. Ours is an exceptional nation. A nation between two oceans made up of people from every nation on earth. A great nation united by our ideals. But we are a great...

This is a formal apology to all of those I’ve offended or ridiculed in the last couple of weeks. I’ve been dealing with an unexpected death by indulging in too much drink. While this is neither your fault nor your problem, it might help some to understand my sudden change of attitude. A lot of my recent comments are unbecoming a decent human being. So, I’m sorry. MADISON - A 44-year-old Huntsville man was jailed on Friday for allegedly exposing himself to children riding on a Madison school bus last month. Thomas Erich Durham, of 1408 Wind River Drive in Huntsville, was charged with seven counts of indecent exposure, Madison police Lt. Tim Albright said. Durham had already been charged by Athens and Huntsville police for similar incidents of indecent exposure at shopping centers last month. Albright said Madison investigators interviewed several witnesses to identify Durham as the man who allegedly exposed himself to several children as they traveled home from school on a school bus on...

I sometimes like to visit liberal forums and chuckle at how preposterous they are. Some kid asked them what a liberal is and they directed him to the link below. The liberals' definition of "liberal" is.......well, here's how one liberal that managed to chew through the leather straps puts it: "One who is polically speaking, party neutral. One who examines both sides of an issue before making a stance, and also will re-examine their stance upon presentation of new evidence. A liberals views are not limited by bigotry, tradition, dogma, tradtion, etc. They are based on the results of their...

Okay Ladies, Gentlemen, and others. I’m eating a giant slice of pizza for breakfast as we speak. I’ve always eaten “unconventional” things for breakfast. I rarely have the usual breakfast foods (eggs, bacon, toast, etc.) unless we eat out. However, I do drink lusty amounts of coffee all day long. I’m interested in knowing if I there any other unconventional breakfast eating “freaks” out there, or if my wife is correct about my being almost completely alone in this? Some of my favorite breakfast foods: Hot dogs Pizza Spaghetti Egg Rolls Hamburgers Steak & Potatoes Giant bowls of vanilla ice...

Emergency Landing A single engine Cessna plane made an emergency landing on Resarch Park Boulevard, between I-565 and University Drive, in Huntsville around 4:00 Wednesday afternoon. The pilot, passenger and plane are okay. We're told the pilot was showing the plane to a potential buyer when the plane started having problems. It's believed there may have been water in the fuel. I won’t go into the details, but I’ve just been subjected to an unimaginable tragedy. All at once every ounce of pain, disappointment, and sadness I’ve ever experienced was made trivial by the news of this one event. Even now, I find it hard to believe that this nightmare is taking place in reality. Part of me is still thinking I’ll soon sit up in bed with my heart hammering and brood over how realistic the whole thing had seemed. I find myself asking the usual questions that arise under these circumstances: “Why God?” “Why have you allowed this?” “What...

I just watched a panel of economist, professors, researchers, and financial experts discuss what should be done to solve the financial woes of Social Security. All of them, to my surprise, agree that private accounts do not correct Social Security’s solvency problem. They’re wrong. Those arguing either for or against private accounts seemed to be divided in two categories. The advocates were quick to point out the greater potential gains that could be made in the market, the value of ownership, and the overall benefits to the economy. The detractors were quick to point out that the market isn’t a...

I had a wonderful time visiting with Sherman at the barbershop yesterday. He’s quite the comedian. His stories can be so outlandish that I sometimes wonder if they’re true, though I don’t suppose it matters. The subject of his most recent yarn was his carefree nephew Charles. He described him as reckless – but the kind of reckless that you can’t help but love. Charles had decided to try his luck as a bootlegger, but he got off to a rough start for lack of regular customers. The lad’s brew was good enough, Sherman assured us, but he had to...

My Great Grandfather made a series of recordings during his lifetime. This transcript is of one of the “mini sermons” he recorded to send to my Grandfather and his fellow soldiers during WWII. None of them last very long, usually less than 5 minutes, but he made a ton of them. Here’s one from July 1943. I received a letter from Marion last Friday and it seems that many of you are thinking about what’s to come. What’ll be your business when you get back home? What will you do? I can’t answer that question. I can only give you...

Any help that you guys can provide in identifying this little revolver would be greatly appreciated. I can provide additional pictures if anyone feels that may be helpful. Here’s what we know about the gun: My uncle found this gun in the wall of a house that was being torn down in Waco, Texas. The house was believed to be about 50 years old at the time, which makes the pistol around 100 years old (assuming it was placed there when the house was built). Other than that, I have no other history on the gun. It’s a 7 shot...

The Earth Charter is the brainchild of Mikhail Gorbachev and world government advocate Maurice Strong. Gorbachev and Strong claim that "the very survival of mankind is in jeopardy" and believe that the Earth Charter is the solution. Gorbachev views the Earth Charter as "a kind of Ten Commandments, a 'Sermon on the Mount,' that provides a guide for human behavior toward the environment in the next century and beyond." They've even created the "Ark of Hope", a replica of the Biblical "Ark of the Covenant". Inside the Ark's lid is the Earth Charter handwritten on papyrus paper. Some of the...

I frequently pull “all-nighters” because I like to trade foreign currency. It occurred to me that there might be several of you that skipped the sack last night – as I did – because of the elections. Here are some things that I’ve found helpful in fighting off fatigue from lack of sleep. Some advise against large amounts of caffeine in this situation. I disagree. I actually have a feedbag of coffee on my shoulder at all times. Try not to get out of hand though because drinking too much will make you feel irritated rather than more energetic. Eat....

I was sitting in my study tonight when I heard something at my front door. I already knew that my family was in bed, so I retrieved my pistol before going to investigate. As I got closer to the foyer I could hear the doorknob jingling. The motion lights were on, so I was sure that someone was trying to get into the house. I stopped at the doorway into our dining room where I had a clear view of the front door. I cocked my revolver, aimed at the door, and waited. Suddenly this swings open and this guy...

Saline County home builder is constructing a new home, with the profits designated for the local Boys and Girls Club. The Ken Young Co., its subcontractors and suppliers are building the home. Several weeks ago, Cindy Doramus, chief professional officer of the club, said she was surprised when she received the call from Young expressing that he wanted to build the house for the club. "He said, 'My subs, suppliers and I want to build a house on one of my lots and give you the profit.'" She said her "first reaction was that this must be some type of...

TAMPA, Fla. -- The "Beer Belly Bandit" has struck again after a 10-month break, adding to the dozens of bank robberies he has committed in Florida since 2000. The robber, known for his bulging midsection, hit a bank on Tuesday, pulling a gun on two tellers. It was the first robbery he had committed since November, when he held up a bank in Sarasota, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said. The amount stolen was not disclosed. "Normally with investigations like this, you get an abundance of leads, especially with a $25,000 reward," said agent Steve Davenport. "We're not getting...

More “Original” CBS George Bush Memos More “Original” CBS George Bush Memos ___________________________________________________ Free Shipping for Our Military See Below Foreign Bidders Limited to Coalition Countries Only Up for bid is a rare find. Here are dozens of blank pages of paper that could become dozens of memos that CBS news just might love to have on TV. Just think of it. One of these could become a memo that shows George W. Bush was arrested for selling dope and is signed by Attorney General Robert F Kennedy. Another could document that Bush was a member of the KKK and...
