Emergency Landing
A single engine Cessna plane made an emergency landing on Resarch Park Boulevard, between I-565 and University Drive, in Huntsville around 4:00 Wednesday afternoon. The pilot, passenger and plane are okay.
We're told the pilot was showing the plane to a potential buyer when the plane started having problems.
It's believed there may have been water in the fuel.

Saw this one myself. Bizarre, to say the least. No injuries.

One would think. If not, I have an outside sales position waiting for him.

Maybe he wanted to demo the safety features of the plane. If so, he might have closed a sale.
I'm very familiar with that stretch of highway. I'm amazed they didn't hit any cars. That's a busy road.

Water in the fuel is an error in normal preflight check.
Nothing wrong with the plane. The old owner is ready to quit flying.

Maybe the potential buyer was his wayward son-in-law?

Don't do that again.

Water in the fuel is an error in normal pre-flight check. If he had it topped off just before take off, and the new gasoline had water in it, it is possible to sample the fuel in a preflight and not find the water. The water would not have had time to settle to the bottom of the tank.
If he had been flying a while and then got water in the carburetor, that may very well be what happened. It is also possible the Cessna had carburetor ice that was not caught quickly enough.

It's possible the plane was washed with a pressure washer to really get the bugs off the wings. I know that is what happened to my plane when I bought it. There was an excess of water in the fuel tanks that had been forced into the vents by the pressure washer. Needless to say, I checked it very carefully before each flight.

I moved to Huntsville from Waco, TX about 10 years ago (I think). We stay here about 3/4 of the time. Are you a DoD or NASA contractor?

Don't do that again. Gotcha. Is there a guide of some sort? Are we only allowed to choose one?

"I hope he used his four ways."
When the engine is running and that big fan out front is spinning, you do not need four ways. You will get all the room you need.
I used to land at a grass strip, then taxi down the street to a gas station for a fill up. A couple of aircraft landing lights turned on helps too. Never had any problems over who had the right of way either........
